From ambassador onboarding to managing online communities, AKSHAR MEHTA’s internship at amber has been a “𝘧𝘶𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦”. Let’s take a closer look — 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫? I've always loved Delhi, but I knew it was time to step out of my comfort zone. So, I started actively looking for internships and apprenticeships. That’s when I came across this opportunity at amber. Plus, with my sister living in Pune, I’d visit often and had already grown fond of the city. So, I thought, ‘Why not?’—and here I am! 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫? I still remember it was August 14th and Independence Day celebrations were in full swing! I expected a serious corporate setting but walked into a buffet full of amazing food. For a second, I thought, ‘Does this happen every day?!’ Well, no, but the vibes are great every day! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞? I manage Facebook communities, schedule posts, and handle the ambassador program. I’m the first point of contact for screening calls and onboarding ambassadors, and I also create referral and dashboard links. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦? I was super shy, and screening calls were a nightmare. But thanks to my manager, Sharmi, I had no choice but to dive in. The first few weeks were rough, but with practice, I figured it out. Now, after 700+ calls, I’m proud to say that I've onboarded over 40 ambassadors so far! 𝐀𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐞? Definitely the screening calls. Also, when my teammate, Joel, was on leave, I had to manage the Facebook member count and update the branding team’s tracker. It was a big responsibility that I didn’t want to mess up! 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞? Google Sheets! I thought I knew it, but the crazy formulas proved me wrong. Thanks to my team they helped me a lot with it. 𝐀 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦? Well, to be honest, there are many but the main highlights have been the Friday badminton matches, team dinners, and balcony breaks. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞? ‘Spiderman: Home Away from Home.’ The team here feels like family, always supportive and encouraging.
