🌍 Expanding #IoT #Coverage for Smarter Flood #Prediction in Kuopio City   As part of the #AMBITIOUS project, we have significantly progressed in developing the flood prediction system. Last week, Savonia University of Applied Sciences and Funlus Oy successfully tested the coverage of LoRaWAN gateways in Kuopion kaupunki - City of Kuopio. 🚀   What did we find? Three LoRaWAN gateways are now operational in the city, and we confirmed that at least two gateways for each sensor provide strong coverage. This means that a comprehensive private #LoRaWAN network now spans Kuopio City, ensuring continuous and reliable data #collection for real-time flood risk #prediction. 👌   💬 "The successful #testing of our #LoRaWAN #network demonstrates the feasibility of real-time flood #monitoring at scale. 🌊 Smart Flood #Prediction for a Safer Kuopio City 🏙️ As part of the #AMBITIOUS project, an IoT-powered flood forecasting system has been deployed in @Kuopio City in collaboration with Funlus Oy and Savonia University of Applied Sciences. 🚀 🔹 How does it work? #Advanced #IoT sensors #continuously monitor water levels, temperature, and humidity in stormwater wells. The data is processed by AI models, providing real-time flood risk #prediction and enabling proactive safety measures. 💬 "The combination of IoT and AI can help address climate risks. In the #AMBITIOUS project, we aim to pilot an #AI model that predicts the probability of urban #flooding, using data from #sensors that measure water levels in #stormwater wells in real time, along with local precipitation levels. 🚀 Innovation in Action: Infrastructure Monitoring with #5G and #IoT! Through the #AMBITIOUS project, we’ve demonstrated how advanced technologies can revolutionize infrastructure monitoring. Thanks to next-generation IoT sensors developed by ThingWave AB in collaboration with Luleå University of Technology, bridges can now be monitored in real-time to detect #vibrations, loads, and structural anomalies. 💡 Before: Periodic manual inspections, costly and inefficient. ⚙️ Now: Real-time data transmitted via #5G #networks to a cloud platform, reducing costs and enhancing #safety. 👉 "Modern digital technologies such as #5G, IoT and #AI enables new methods for remote sensing that can revolutionize how remote sensing can be achieved.
