  • Earlier today, AmCham Guyana hosted a high-level roundtable discussion with a delegation from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), led by President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis, Esq. During the roundtable, participants had the chance to discuss key opportunities and challenges when seeking EXIM financing and how these can be mitigated, as well as identifying the range of U.S. Government initiatives designed to support foreign buyers. Chair Reta Jo Lewis reiterated EXIM’s strong commitment to supporting Guyana’s growth, highlighting the recent approval of $527 million in financing for the country’s transformative gas-to-energy project. Chair Lewis was accompanied by Hazeen Ashby, Deputy Chief of Staff and White House Liaison; Ufo Eric-Atuanya, Acting Senior Vice President of the Office of Global Development; and Nicole Theriot, U.S. Ambassador to Guyana. The session also brought together senior U.S. Embassy officials, AmCham Guyana members, and representatives of local business support organizations.

  • PRESS RELEASE || AmCham Guyana Congratulates U.S. Embassy and the Government of Guyana on Largest Ever Infrastructural Loan AmCham Guyana applauds the historic approval of a $527 million loan from the U.S. Export- Import Bank (EXIM) to support the critical Gas-to-Energy project in Guyana. This landmark agreement marks the largest-ever infrastructure loan in the Caribbean, signifying a growing confidence in Guyana’s prosperity and deepening the U.S.-Guyana partnership. The Gas-to-Energy project is poised to transform Guyana’s energy landscape, enhancing energy security by diversifying energy sources and reducing reliance on imported fuels. Furthermore, it will accelerate the nation’s transition to cleaner and more reliable energy sources, driving sustainable economic growth and development. AmCham Guyana commends the Government of Guyana, the U.S. Embassy, and all stakeholders involved in this ground breaking achievement.   • AmCham Guyana and the Women's Chamber of Commerce And Industry Guyana recently co-hosted a session focused on the essentials of Joint Ventures (JVs). Participants explored key elements like the importance of due diligence, establishing guardrails, and having a well-thought-out exit strategy. Discussions also highlighted the critical role of engaging skilled professionals, such as attorneys and accountants, to ensure effective and sustainable JV structures.   • Last Thursday, AmCham GY hosted an Energy Mixer under the theme “The Gas to Energy Project: Transforming Guyana’s Energy Landscape.” The event featured Hon. Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret'd) Mark Phillips, Mr. Winston A. M. Brassington, Head of Guyana’s Gas-to-Energy Task Force, and U.S. Ambassador Nicole D. Theriot. Attendees gained valuable insights into the Gas to Energy Project, a transformational initiative aiming to secure Guyana's energy security.   • Our recent Energy Mixer featured presentations from Dr. Narsimha Rao, Senior Fellow & Director at TERI, Dr. Mahender Sharma, CEO of the Guyana Energy Agency, and Mr. Andrew Mendes, Managing Director of Farfan & Mendes Ltd. These presentations provided an in-depth overview of the latest advancements in solar technology, highlighted key projects currently underway in Guyana, and discussed the necessary conditions for successful implementation.
