We’ve made some exciting announcements recently about steps we’re taking to address growing energy demand. President and CEO Bill Fehrman sat down with Chief Communications Officer Chris Brathwaite to share his thoughts on how we’re moving forward.

In a major step toward securing Virginia’s reliable energy future, Appalachian Power announces plans to bring Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) to Virginia, aligning with our vision of improving customers' lives with reliable, affordable power.

We are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative to support the growing energy needs of data centers and other large energy users. AEP has secured up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of Bloom Energy solid oxide fuel cells, marking the largest utility fuel cell technology initiative in the nation! Bill Fehrman, AEP President and CEO, stated: “The rapid increase in energy demand is a challenge that AEP is tackling by finding innovative solutions to meet the unique needs of our customers. These fuel cells will help provide data centers and other large customers with the power they need to quickly expand in our regulated footprint as we continue to build infrastructure to deliver reliable energy for all our customers.” This initiative is a testament to our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. We look forward to powering the future with sustainable and reliable energy solutions.

Today, AEP announced key organizational changes aimed at empowering local operations and increasing value for our customers and stakeholders. As customer needs evolve, these changes will help us improve service and drive growth in the communities we serve. “This new leadership and organizational structure is part of our effort to streamline the company, shift decision making and accountability closer to customers, and align our support organizations to ensure our businesses have the appropriate resources to enhance value for all of our stakeholders,” said Bill Fehrman, AEP president and CEO.
