The PAME conference is off and running. one of this morning's breakout sessions is taking a closer look at the state of SUDEP models in research.
Founded in 1936 to facilitate education and research, innovation, advocacy the American Epilepsy Society unites physicians, health care professionals, scientists, advocates, and others interested in the care and treatment of epilepsy. Supporting epilepsy professionals through continuing education, career development, and mentoring remains at the core of American Epilepsy Society’s mission. Furthermore, AES promotes both basic and clinical research at the vanguard of diagnosing, treating, and curing epilepsy. AES develops and disseminates tools to encourage evidence-based guidelines and best practices to improve care for patients suffering from epilepsy. Lastly, AES endeavors to improve public awareness of epilepsy and its impact to increase public policy and institutional support for the one in 26 Americans that will suffer from epilepsy during their lifetime.

So I decided to stretch myself as we head towards the end of the year by taking part in a Special Interest Group panel about Epilepsy and Aging at the annual American Epilepsy Society meeting #AES2024. If you are attending and would be interested in hearing me talk about strategies for optimal management and focus areas for clinical studies, especially in nursing homes and the community then here is the link - https://lnkd.in/gVzkn6Jr I highly recommend attending this session as I will be joined by some amazing researchers from the field. I can't remember the last time I participated in an international academic conference but I'm grateful to the organisers for inviting me to share the work I did a few years back and the Chairs of the panel Melissa Barker-Haliski, Ph.D. and Ifrah Zawar. #epilepsy #aging #ageing
