#ICYMI: Travis Clardy, president and CEO of the Texas Health Care Association, warns in a new Rio Grande Guardian op-ed that the Biden Administration’s proposed nursing home staffing mandate poses an “existential threat” to long-term care. The one-size-fits-all rule would cost Texas nursing homes an additional $725 million annually in order to hire more than 12,000 nurses and nurse aides—despite no additional funding and a nationwide caregiver shortage. This mandate risks limiting access to care, forcing facilities to turn away residents or close their doors entirely. Read more:
