In honor of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth meet SSG James Wyatt Rutledge, an infantryman assigned to 2-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, and a member of the Navajo tribe (Diné Nation), who proudly keeps his family legacies alive. The descendant of a Navajo #codetalker, he enlisted in the US Army to fulfill his grandfathers dying wish, who was also a veteran. His grandmother, a survivor of the American Indian boarding schools, and who now chooses to only speak Navajo, inspired him to carry on cultural traditions with his own children. “I make sure they recognize who they are.” #NAHM #DinéPride #NavajoPride 📸&✍️: SGT Elizabeth DeGroot #ReadMore ➡️ http://spr.ly/6046tp5OE

Meet PFC Ahmad Haidari, a 91S, Stryker Mechanic with 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment "Tomahawks". Born and raised in Lashkargah, Afghanistan—one of the most war-torn regions in the country—he taught himself English by watching movies and was raised to be fluent in Dari and Pashtu. Haidari’s connection to the U.S. Military began when he worked with American forces as an interpreter, supporting combat missions, including dangerous route clearance operations in Kandahar. Surviving three IED attacks, Haidari eventually transitioned to working with Special Forces, where he found a brotherhood and sense of purpose that fueled his desire to enlist in the US Army. After moving to Colorado in 2020, Haidari worked multiple jobs while also ensuring his mother's evacuation from Kabul after the Afghan government collapsed. In December 2023, Haidari joined 1-23 Infantry Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and became a critical member of the Battalions Forward Support Company, diligently working to keep vehicles operational and prepared to protect Soldiers and rapidly move combat power. In August 2024, after years of waiting, he was granted U.S. Citizenship in a heartfelt ceremony that marked the realization of a lifelong dream. “I want to be the best," Haidari says. "Sometimes I go to the gym and see dozens of people who are better than me. But that doesn’t stop me from trying to be amongst them.” Now on his way to South Korea for a nine-month deployment, Haidari continues his mission: to protect democracies and embody the values that make America great. His story is a testament to resilience, service, and the belief that no dream is too big. #WhyIServe #meetyourarmy #FacesofthePacific #ReadMore ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gNWjGGM7
