Pursuing Warfighting Readiness: In a recent Military Review article, I Corps G4 plans officer, Maj. Mikhail "MJ" Jackson shares lessons he learned while serving as the lead sustainment officer for 2nd Infantry DIVARTY during 7th Infantry Division's participation in Warfighter exercise 22-02. "I quickly understood that ammunition may not always be green. In fact, sometimes on-hand quantities might be in the red or black, which is okay if you understand mission requirements, can appropriately forecast ammunition, and can make ammunition adjustments depending on the range to the enemy’s location." 🎉 It's our 107th Birthday, let's take a look at the Corps from the 1990s to today #birthdaycountdown On 12 October 1999, Gen. Eric K. Shinseki, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, announced America’s First Corps would lead the acceleration of Army transformation, training and the initial creation of the first two Stryker Brigade Combat Teams at Fort Lewis. In 1999, work began to transform two infantry brigades into new vehicle mounted infantry organizations with high tactical mobility, and hard-hitting capabilities. The 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division and the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, all based at Fort Lewis, were selected to spearhead this transformation. In February 2009, America’s First Corps deployed to Iraq for its first combat deployment in more than 50 years. The deployment was in service of Iraqi Freedom. Fast-forward to 2011, and Led by Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti and Command Sgt. Maj. John Troxell, I Corps cases its colors at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and deploys to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2012, I Corps shifted its focus to its next mission, the Pacific Region. The Indo-Pacific is where the Corps wanted to build on relationships overseas and strengthen the interoperability we have with foreign allies. #usarmy #DYK #Didyouknow #usarmyhistory #ArmyHistory #stryker #infantry #strykerbrigade US Army | U.S. Army Center of Military History | Lewis Army Museum
