Festivus, a secular holiday celebrated on December 23, was popularized by the sitcom Seinfeld in a 1997 episode titled "The Strike." Created by writer Dan O'Keefe, the holiday was originally a quirky family tradition in the O'Keefe household before it became a pop culture phenomenon. Festivus is humorously designed to counteract the commercialism and stress of the holiday season. It features a few key traditions: The Festivus Pole: A simple, unadorned aluminum pole symbolizing minimalism. -- The Airing of Grievances: A chance to share how others have disappointed you over the past year. -- Feats of Strength: A wrestling match where Festivus doesn’t officially end until the head of the household is pinned. -- Festivus Miracles: Ironic references to everyday occurrences labeled as “miracles.” Today, Festivus is embraced by fans of Seinfeld and others as a lighthearted, non-commercial alternative to traditional holiday celebrations. #Festivus
