While in the Emerald City, the group toured King Street Station, the King Street Rail Yard and visited the future site of a brand-new Heavy Maintenance Facility. It’s not every day you get to see an arch float down a river, but for Amtrak, every day feels like another infrastructure milestone. This happens when we work with our partners to deliver a new era of rail. Just in time for the holidays, the Portal North Bridge Project is receiving delivery of its first arch from Upstate New York, floated down the Hudson River via barge to the project site. These arches, which go on top of the bridge, are critical in efficiently carrying trains across longer spans. Acting as trusses, they are 400 feet apart—an incredible engineering feat compared to the 100-foot spans of traditional steel bridges. The arrival of this arch represents a major step toward completing the Portal North Bridge, helping us advance the modern, reliable rail network our passengers deserve.

Calling all artists! 📢 We’re partnering with the William H. Gray III Memorial Foundation and Monument Lab to create a monumental “living memorial” honoring Congressman William H. Gray III at Philadelphia’s iconic Gray 30th Street Station.    The memorial will be located in the main hall of Gray 30th Street Station, Philadelphia’s historic train depot serving over 100,000 people daily. This is your chance to design a landmark that will celebrate Congressman Gray’s legacy of civic engagement.    🗓️ Submissions are due by 12/4/24  📍 Learn more and submit your idea: https://lnkd.in/dUJwJNr2

We're excited to share that the track renewal work on the Harrisburg Line between Lancaster and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is officially complete!   What does this mean for customers? A smoother, more comfortable ride and improved reliability for Keystone Service and Pennsylvanian trains, thanks to over 43 miles of track upgrades, including 113,000+ durable concrete ties—designed to last 50 years—being installed, ensuring the tracks stay in great shape for decades.   By adopting an innovative construction approach, we completed nearly two years of work in just eight months—minimizing disruption and restoring full service faster.   A huge thank you to the 200+ Amtrak employees, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and all our partners who made this project possible.
