Breaking Cycles without Breaking Bonds

About us

At Angel's Pass, we envision a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home, even in the face of challenging circumstances. With over 2 million children being raised by their grandparents and more than 400,000 children being fostered by their grandparents; we recognize the urgent need to provide support and resources to these families, and other families impacted similarly. Our goal is to Break Cycles without Breaking Bonds by empowering grandparents who have stepped up to provide a stable home for children who have been separated from their birth parents due to incarceration, addiction, safety, or other circumstances beyond their control. We challenge ourselves to question the norm when it comes to the foster care system as it stands today in the United States. How can we revolutionize the way children are cared for in the United States? How can we be more proactive, results oriented, and caring as it relates to those who desire to adopt children and those children who would benefit the most from being adopted while still remaining in contact with their birth families, especially birth grandparents? Help us give an Angel's Pass to a child or family in need. There are several ways YOU can earn your wings, whether you are a private citizen or a corporation. Please add Angel's Pass to your list of passions. We are not limited to adoption, but provide resources and services designed to provide a pass to a brighter future. Yes, we offer children and families, an Angel's Pass, and you can too by joining us in our mission.

Many grandparents play important roles in their grandchildren's lives—sometimes even helping to raise them. It's often such a special relationship that the idea of a grandparent needing permission to spend time with a grandchild is almost unthinkable. But if a parent objects to grandparent visitation, a judge might have to resolve the dispute. Georgia law—as well as the circumstances of each case—will determine how that plays out. Grandparent's rights for visitation are different in every state. Here is a great article By Joseph Pandolfi, Retired Georgia Judge with his take on Georgia's most frequently asked questions by Grandparents on the matter. You'll learn when Georgia law allows grandparents and some other relatives to get court-ordered visitation with children—or even custody. https://lnkd.in/efEMYw9i.

  • Heather, again, thank you for your honesty on this public platform. I always wish I were so brave. Also thank you for providing a specific example of the work you do, as many of the posts that are blasting ABA are very generalized and provide no specific examples. Though we know there are examples out there, as happens in every field, we can only do our best to provide therapy we know is dignified and humane. I often think many people hating on ABA into the social media void don't know the horror stories of kids really needing help. I had a young client 30 years ago who put his finger into his eye socket as a type of self-injury. He had no way to communicate anything, much less describe what kind of the physical or emotional pain he was in. And, the world wasn't breaking down his door to help him. Your work is so valued. It's important and often thankless. And, unfortunately, with the way social media is today, we get lumped into the same category with bad practitioners as people try to cancel our entire field. I've seen new BCBAs use forced compliance and cringed. My feedback only solidified their belief they were doing it right. We have to keep working toward our best work and support each other at every opportunity!

Hey sis, You may be excited to step in to your knew role but just like you studied for your exam.....study these organizations too! Or you may be a BCBA looking for a change...take your time, I know it's challenging but trust me...study these organizations! When you hear an organization proclaim they have small caseloads and low billable expectations have them define this! Ask questions such as: What is the average amount of hours each client are being scheduled per week? Roughly how many clients will I have on my caseload? Is there one BT to each client, or is it more ? Then you would factor that in to see what's attainable if you were to only observed at the bare minimum of 5% of those hours can you get close to those numbers? Ask them what happens if you don't!! I said what I said! Some of y'all hear the salary and get trapped with these sign on bonuses! Please stop! Take your time now before it's too late and you feel trapped, and burnt out ! P.S. you also do NOT have to stay at your current organization if you feel like it is not a good fit for you! BCBAs are needed--YOU HAVE OPTIONS!
