Cox Cable's national network, AnimalZone takes you on an unforgettable voyage to Japan to visit ARK (Animal Refuge Kansai). Founded by Elizabeth Oliver, a university professor with a heart as big as a sumo wrestler, ARK began in Osaka and grew to 600 rescues following the devastating Kobe earthquake. Since then, it’s been a sanctuary where tails wag and spirits soar. Julie Okamoto, Director of ARK and our intrepid host, introduces us to Sasayama ARK, nestled in the picturesque Hyogo countryside. Here is a bucolic sprawling dog park where canines can frolic and play, and a pristine river that flows as gracefully as a haiku. It’s a pooch paradise! Meet Snoopy and Shell, two delightful doggies waiting for their forever homes. These pups have been pampered by ARK’s volunteers, who treat them like the royalty they are. ARK’s philosophy is simple: every animal is an individual, not just a breed or an age. Their mission? To find the perfect family match that would make even a matchmaker blush. ARK isn’t just about giving animals a second chance; it's about educating the public too. They hold educational events at schools and organizations to make sure people know which furry friend will fit each lifestyle like a well-tailored kimono. And let’s not forget the gourmet touch – in the early days, Elizabeth herself cooked up meals for the animals. Today, they still enjoy a mix of home-cooked goodness and donated quality pet food. Talk about a five-paw dining experience! ARK holds adoption events in Tokyo and opens its doors to visitors at their facilities in Osaka and at Sasayama. So, whether you’re looking to adopt or just want to bask in the joy of seeing happy animals, ARK welcomes you and your donations with open paws! For more information, visit: www.Arkbark.net. Prepare for a heartwarming episode that will have you saying “Kawaii!” all morning long. Mikey, the pit bull, was also the mascot of AnimalZone for the first three seasons as part of the inspiration to launch the tv show. Pit bulls are some of the most loving and loyal dogs with the worst public relations. AnimalZone set out to correct this and many other misconceptions about rescue dogs and other pets in need of a loving home. The show has succeeded in this mission and, along the way, won TVSB’s Media Award and a Telly Award. Mikey crossed the rainbow bridge in May of 2020, which was a painful loss to his family. In the Bonus Season episode 6, Laura Stinchfield, the Pet Psychic, channels Mikey from the afterlife. It’s a unique and touching segment.

This Saturday, August 3 on Cox Television national network at 8:30 AM is the premier of Season 12, Whisker Wonderland: Inside Tokyo’s Cat Cafe Mocha We're whisking you away to Tokyo, Japan, where we'll dive whisker-first into the delightful world of Cat Cafe Mocha. As pioneers in the feline café craze, Mocha has crafted cozy nooks all over Tokyo (and beyond) where you can curl up with a kitty and forget all your troubles – just like a cat would. At Cat Cafe Mocha, you can engage in some serious kitty fun with a variety of toys and treats, or take a cue from the cats and lounge on plush sofas, letting them come to you when they feel like it. (Because, let’s face it, cats run the show.) Need to catch up on some reading or work? Grab a magazine or hop on the WiFi – with a cat purring on your lap, productivity is bound to skyrocket! Our fabulous guide and translator, Setsuko Miike, who’s a proud cat pawrent herself, chats with a Mocha manager to get the scoop on how these furry residents enjoy the good life. We'll find out what keeps them purring and healthy amidst their many adoring visitors. Did you know that around 60% of Cat Cafe Mocha’s visitors are women in their 20s and 30s? And most come in pairs or groups, making it a hotspot for socializing – human and feline alike! But watch out for those weekend afternoons – it's like catnip time, and the place can get packed. And if you’re bringing little ones, check the age restrictions – some cafes prefer their guests to be of the two-legged, not two-year-old variety. Feeling peckish? The cafes boast self-service drink machines and delectable cat treats like seafood and chicken broth popsicles. Trust us, the cats go wild for these frozen delights on a stick! So, get ready to paws and relax with us at Cat Cafe Mocha, where you can sip, snack, and snooze alongside some of the cutest kitties in Tokyo. It's a meow-nificent way to start the season, and we promise you'll be feline fine by the end of this episode! In this special episode, Laura delves into her lifelong ability to communicate with animals, a skill she discovered in her youth. She enlightens viewers about the innate capability we all possess to connect with our furry friends, often in subconscious ways. Laura shares that animals communicate with her through various channels, including words, pictures, and feelings. The episode unfolds with a compelling story of a reading where a woman's dog voiced concerns about an unsettling presence in the house. The dog revealed disapproval of a woman visiting when the husband was alone. Initially dismissed as the cleaning lady, Laura's insights later proved accurate when the woman discovered her husband's affair. The ensuing divorce resulted in custody of the faithful dog. Traveling to Ojai, California, Laura engages with Buttercup, an older horse who tells her that she has a loose tooth. During an examination by the veterinarian, Charlie, Laura's revelation is validated as the loose tooth is successfully removed. In Dallas, Laura connects with Moose, a skittish pit bull mix. A sensitive discussion about seeing the vet triggers a defensive response, highlighting the importance of mindful communication with animals. The episode also features Michelle Silva, owner of Bruley, the Frenchie from the "Queer Eye" Netflix series. Laura shares the emotional journey of communicating with Bruley after his passing, emphasizing that he is in a happy place surrounded by love. Additionally, Laura touches on readings involving Eli the donkey and Java Bella, a shelter rescue with a remarkable transformation in behavior. A visit to The Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary unveils Laura's conversation with Jamie McLeod, the Sanctuary Director, and a unique bird named Buddha. Unraveling Buddha's origin as the pet of Princess Shams, the Shah of Iran's sister, Laura sheds light on the bird's capture in New Guinea and its unique preferences. This episode, spanning 11 seasons of The Pet Psychic's involvement with AnimalZone, showcases Laura's remarkable readings and deep connections with the animal kingdom. This Saturday, May 4th on Cox Television's national network at 8:30 AM, get ready to embark on a wild ride as AnimalZone visits the SPCA Monterey County—a place where the hills are alive with the sound of chirping, neighing, and the occasional oink. This donor-supported haven for creatures great and small has been serving the Monterey community since the days when animals had to commute by horse and buggy. This episode is an award winner in the Indo Dubai International Film Festival, 2024. Join our graceful guide, Beth Brookhouser, as she takes us on a tour of this hidden gem nestled between Salinas and Carmel. This place is a full-fledged animal utopia, boasting vet services, wildlife rescue and rehab, as well as dog and puppy training classes (because even Fido needs to learn some manners). The compound is so picturesque that the resident raccoons have their own Instagram account! From hawks to opossums, baby owls to frisky squirrels, it's a regular Noah's Ark up in there, minus the floods! But wait, there's more. This sanctuary doesn't discriminate when it comes to four-legged friends. They've got horses, rabbits, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens—you name it. It's basically a barnyard animal version of "The Real Housepets of Monterey County." So, buckle up for a heartwarming and delightful journey through a place where the critters roam free, the caregivers have hearts as big as elephant ears, and even the opossums know how to strike a pose for the camera. Get ready to laugh, cry, and possibly adopt a miniature donkey or two by the end of the episode. In the serene morning of the Swiss Alps, nestled in Zermatt under the imposing silhouette of the Matterhorn, a solitary skier gracefully carves through the pristine snowscape. But in an instant, tranquility shatters as a thunderous cascade of freshly fallen snow unleashes its fury, swallowing the skier whole beneath its icy embrace. Simultaneously, the valiant Air Zermatt companion rescue team takes flight, their helicopter slicing through the crisp mountain air. With recent memories of their heroic efforts of saving 27 souls in Saas Fee still fresh, they soar upwards, propelled by urgency rather than exhilaration, driven by the relentless race against time. Yet, for the intrepid rescue dogs, it's merely another day at the office. As the ground team presses on, their snowmobiles carving paths through the snow, the helicopter draws closer to the scene of the ordeal. With bated breath, they scan the landscape, every second weighted with the gravity of a life hanging in the balance. Summoned to the rescue, the stalwart Zermatt Rescue Team springs into action. In this gripping episode, you'll be introduced to David, Urs, and Bruno, the valiant members of the Zermatt Rescue Team, accompanied by their remarkable trio of avalanche rescue dogs. Alongside them stands Amade Perrig, a seasoned skier, mountain climber, and former director of Zermatt Tourism, who bravely recounts his encounters with avalanches, having endured two harrowing ordeals.
