In the first in a series focusing on the founders of each of our divisions, this month we're spotlighting S.G. "Bill" Morris, the originator of the company that bears his name. We hope you enjoy learning more about the names that came together to create Applied Fluid Power! Located in Cleveland, Ohio. the S. G. Morris company has worked hard to earn its excellent reputation as a full-service distributor for the fluid power industry. But the company’s start was modest, driven only by the vision, dedication, and determination of S.G. “Bill” Morris himself. He began his career as a purchasing agent, leaving his job in 1926 to go into sales. For the next five years, Bill sold machine tools manufactured by the Racine Tool & Machine Company of Racine, Wisconsin, including a power hack saw that utilized a small hydraulic pump. Fascinated by the idea of using fluid power to perform machine functions, Morris persuaded the company to let him sell pumps to other machine builders, and on January 1, 1932, Bill became Racine’s first hydraulic pump representative. In addition to Racine’s pumps, Morris was also selling valves for the Ross Operating Valve Company, as well as air cylinders and air valves. For the next 56 years, Bill continued to grow the business, selling pumps, valves, and cylinders, often suggesting – and sketching out – design changes to improve product performance. Bill Morris retired in 1988 at age 90. Today, the S.G. Morris company builds, customizes, repairs, and services the critical components for the fluid power industry. We are your full-service integrator for hydraulic, pneumatic, motion control, lubrication, and electrical controls solutions. Contact S.G. Morris and learn more about what they can do for you. https://hubs.la/Q02-dNSk0 #WeAreApplied #TheFounders #Pumps #Valves #Cylinders #FluidPowerExcellence

Lights…camera…action! Boost safety and productivity with cameras on hydraulic machines. Why? Because integrating cameras on hydraulic equipment can enhance visibility, increase safety, and improve machine performance. Here are three reasons why: Create a Safer Workspace: Cameras increase environmental awareness, detect objects and safety gear, and maintain safe distances—reducing potential damage and injury. Increase Precision: Better visibility and object detection enable more accurate maneuvering, making tasks quicker and more efficient. Automate Operations: Programmed cameras can trigger actions, alerts, and maintain distances automatically, cutting down operational time and increasing productivity. Hydraulic Actuator Repair: Why OEM Matters! When it comes to repairing hydraulic actuators in power plant turbines, construction equipment, heavy machinery and mining, using OEM parts is crucial to ensure optimal performance and prevent extensive downtime. Partnering with a repair shop that understands OEM standards can make all the difference! Here’s what a reputable repair shop will ask before starting the job: - What hydraulic oil is being used? - Who is the OEM of the actuator? - What’s the serial number of the actuator? These critical details help customize the repair approach, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. Not all shops provide the same level of service—make sure you choose an experienced partner to protect your efficiency and revenue. It’s not easy being green. But it is easy when utilizing the environmentally friendly, High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) method to resurface cylinder rods for extended life vs. conventional electro-plating processes. And HVOF is something Spencer Fluid Power knows. HVOF is the best thermal spray method for hydraulic actuators (cylinder rods). HVOF includes the following benefits: - Reduces corrosion/rust on the surface of the component - Improves performance of cylindrical metal parts, dramatically lengthening component and seal life - Increases impact resistance - Eliminates carcinogenic chromic acid solutions during the process Want to learn more? Contact the experts at Spencer Fluid Power and find out why HVOF is the better option for resurfacing hydraulic actuators: https://hubs.la/Q02T09vm0 #WeAreApplied #SpencerFluidPower #HVOF #HighVelocityOxyFuel
