Real-time awareness of hospital bed capacity and resources is critical for effective healthcare management. However, this level of communication isn't always streamlined within hospitals or across a state. HCS improves communication by providing real-time data within and among hospitals. Proud of Apprise Health Insights for being invited to the AHRQ Summit on Boarding at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) along with Helene Anderson DNP, NEA-BC to discuss our groundbreaking work and learnings from the Heathcare Capacity System.

Apprise recently hosted our virtual Best Practice Session for Healthcare Capacity System (HCS) users. This session provided a valuable opportunity to connect with our partners, even if only virtually! We heard from guest speakers Mimi Richert from the National Institutes of Health and Beth (Pallo) Golshir from the CDC. Additionally, HCS users presented including Daniel Davis, senior director of patient flow at St. Charles Health System in Bend, Ore. Daniel shared how HCS proved crucial this summer as the health system assessed potential fire evacuations due to two regional wildfires. While under Level 1 evacuation status, he reviewed HCS data every morning to gauge regional capacity in case patient evacuation became necessary. Daniel also utilized his communication channels to share this vital HCS data. We extend our sincere thanks to all partners who participated and shared their experiences during our Best Practices meeting!

Is your hospital ready for new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reporting requirements? Starting Nov. 1st, CMS will require hospitals and critical access hospitals to electronically report information related to flu, COVID-19 and RSV. This new CMS rule aims to improve disease surveillance, enhance public health coordination, and improve patient outcomes. Key reporting requirements include:
 ▪️ Confirmed infections among newly admitted and hospitalized patients
 ▪️Total bed census and capacity

Congratulations to Oregon Health & Science University on their new centralized mission control center! This innovative hub will house the Oregon Medical Coordination Center and Behavioral Health Coordination Center, supported by the Healthcare Capacity System to track and manage health care capacity efficiently. The Healthcare Capacity System, was born from a collaboration between Oregon Health & Science University, Apprise Health Insights, GE HealthCare, and other statewide hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. We're proud to see this continued commitment to health care collaboration across Oregon!
