Pakal Technologies, Inc has raised $25 million in Series B funding led by New Science Ventures, with participation from Translink Capital and Arborview Capital. With this funding, Pakal is launching its IGTO(t) silicon power switch, designed for hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs), storage, and renewable applications. The IGTO(t) introduces a novel trench structure and operational physics, offering significant efficiency gains over traditional IGBTs. These advancements enable improved electric power conversion efficiency, addressing a critical need for high-performance, cost-effective silicon-based power switches. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded contracts for energy savings and conservation measures at five Federal buildings as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Climate Smart Buildings Initiative and funded by the Inflation Reduction Act. Arborview portfolio company Alpen High Performance Products, whose products meet the GSA’s most aggressive “Top 20%” standards for embodied carbon, will play a critical role in these building upgrades. Alpen will serve as the exclusive provider of windows and inserts for the projects, which will be run by Constellation New Energy. Together with Alpen-supplied windows, building upgrades including LED lighting retrofits, water conservation measures, and heating and cooling plant electrification, are estimated to save $2.2 million in utility costs and reduce carbon emissions by 5,734 metric tons annually. https://lnkd.in/gyQt_Ate

Our portfolio company, Alpen, has raised $18 million through a Department of Energy grant and a private capital raise to support their thin-glass insulating glass unit (IGU) product line.
