In response to NJ Senate President Nick Scutari’s proposed bill seeking to re-criminalize buying small amounts of cannabis from unlicensed dealers, Bill Caruso commented to Politico that NJ’s cannabis industry isn’t plagued by illicit cannabis sales, but rather the real threat is with unregulated, untested and untaxed intoxicating hemp products being sold, including to those under 21. As a result of the February 17, 2025 U.S. Supreme Court’s order in the Texas Top Cop Shop case, the beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) are once again back in effect. The Financial Enforcement Crimes Network (FinCEN) has extended the deadline for filing initial, corrected, and updated reports under the CTA to March 21, 2025.
