Do you know what the "AV" in AVSeeds stands for? If not, let us re-introduce ourselves! It’s a nod to our roots in Rocky Ford, Colorado and what Bob Appleman named the company after in 1945: the beautiful Arkansas River Valley. Another fun fact: Bob's leadership also brought our iconic Rabbit Ears® logo to life—symbolizing quality and value and inspired by the scenic Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs. With an incredible backdrop of natural landscapes, vibrant ecosystems, and unforgettable sunsets, it’s no wonder Bob found endless inspiration in his Colorado locale! To this day, we’re proud to continue delivering high-quality seeds and versatile mixing services. The Western Monarch Count has officially wrapped up for the season, and while the final numbers aren’t yet available, we fear they may reflect the ongoing struggles monarchs face. Habitat loss, climate change, and pesticide exposure continue to take a devastating toll on these vital pollinators, making conservation efforts more critical than ever. At AVSeeds, we’re doing our part to support pollinators. Our Wildflower Sales and Pollinator Specialist, Elizabeth Hedrick-Collins, MS is working toward Pollinator Steward Certification from Pollinator Partnership, which empowers people with the scientific know-how to make a real difference for pollinators, people, and the planet! It includes habitat creation and outreach to support pollinators, and we’re excited to share our progress as we work to enhance ecosystems and raise awareness 🦋🐝 Want to know how you can get involved too? Shop our Pollinator Wildflower Mix to create a pollinator-friendly space, or let us craft a custom milkweed mix tailored to your needs: https://lnkd.in/gRPiH3P Together, we can build a brighter future for monarchs and other pollinators! 🚨Monarch Butterflies Need Our Help!🚨 The Western Monarch Count mid-season results are nearly finalized, and the news is alarming: this season marks the second lowest count since records began in 1997. These iconic pollinators are facing significant challenges, and their future depends on our action. Monarchs Under Consideration for Threatened Status 🦋 The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed listing monarch butterflies as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act. This move could provide critical protections to help stabilize their population, but public input is vital to shaping this decision. How Can I Get Involved and Take Action? #1: Understand the Proposal - Take time to read the proposed rule at https://lnkd.in/ghsxsDVc - Learn how it aims to protect monarchs and their habitats #2: Comment Online - Visit the link above and share your feedback by clicking “Comment" - The 90 day public comment period closes March 12th Why Your Voice Matters 🗣️ Public comments provide valuable insights that help guide conservation efforts. By participating, you can contribute to meaningful change for monarch butterflies and the ecosystems they support. Stay tuned for updates as the WMC final count is released and more conservation resources become available. Together, we can protect the monarchs and the future of our environment.
