Leading the way to a future where people and robots work together to grow U.S. manufacturing leadership
About us
The ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute accelerates the development and adoption of innovative robotics technologies that are the foundation of every advanced manufacturing activity today and in the future. We leverage a unique, robust and diverse ecosystem of partners across industry, academia and government to: - make robotics, autonomy and artificial intelligence more accessible to U.S. manufacturers large and small - train and empower the manufacturing workforce - strengthen our economy and global competitiveness - elevate our national security and resilience The ARM Institute operates as part of the Manufacturing USA network, and is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. By creating a collaborative ecosystem of like-minded organizations, the ARM Institute is speeding the movement of industrial robots into commercial use, while preparing a labor force to operate and manage these technologies. ARM is an integral part of Pittsburgh’s strategy to define the future of the global manufacturing economy and will be the lead tenant at Hazelwood Green, a unique hub that will revolutionize U.S. manufacturing. "No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude." - Alfred North Whitehead As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, the ARM Institute team extends our gratitude for our members and partners who work with us to strengthen U.S. manufacturing! Thank you for all that you do. We wish you a restful and enjoyable holiday!

In the U.S., football can be as significant to the Thanksgiving holiday as the turkey. As you watch your team take the field, it's probably clear to you the number of people involved in making the games happen, from coaches and players to concession stand workers and media reporters. But have you thought about the equipment and, by extension, the manufacturing processes that go into the games? In this month's RoboticsCareer.org newsletter, we make manufacturing concepts tangible for students and job seekers by exploring how Penna Flame manufactures crane wheels, which are used to help roll the field in and out of stadiums for the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders. Plus, the ARM Institute's Robotics Manufacturing Hub team worked with Penna Flame to develop a custom robotics solution for them for free! ARM Member MassRobotics has opened applications for their Chewy Autonomous Mobile Picking (CHAMP) Challenge! This challenge is designed to solve a critical issue in modern warehousing: how to automate the handling of large, heavy, and awkwardly shaped items in confined spaces using robots. By tackling this challenge, participants will contribute to the advancement of warehouse automation, helping to drive the industry forward while solving a real-world problem for Chewy. The winning solution will not only demonstrate technical innovation but will also showcase the potential for scalability and integration into Chewy’s existing operations. The first place winner will receive a $30K cash prize with the opportunity to enter into a contract with Chewy to further develop the proposed solution. Learn more in the link below and join the info session on Dec. 4 https://lnkd.in/eq_QuD-m
