We have so much to be thankful for with our wonderful younger members in South Dakota, both at the section and at the Black Hills Branch (remember, the Section has absorbed the Eastern Branch...so those leaders are included with the Section). Consider recognizing them...

I'm doing a little research for the Scouts I'll be working with tomorrow to earn their Engineering Badge...the instructions suggest we review a set of plans and specifications. Still, I'd rather show them what they could be designing in 12-15 years when they become engineers and showcase the innovative and sustainable projects that are becoming a reality today. Even in places we wouldn't expect, like South Dakota, "renewable resources generated 77% of South Dakota's total in-state electricity in 2023, almost all of it from wind and hydroelectric power. After surpassing hydroelectric power's contribution to in-state electricity generation in 2021, wind provided nearly three times as much electricity as hydropower in 2023." Annual Meeting & Presentation   Please join the SD Section as we hold our annual meeting on Thursday, September 26th at 12:00pm (Central). After the business meeting, please join us for a presentation on the Shared Resources Water Treatment Plant. The presentation will start approximately at 1:00pm and will end at 2:00pm. Both meetings will be held virtually. Register for the meeting here: https://lnkd.in/gGDs9Uvp   PDH Presentation: The Shared Resources water system is a joint effort between Minnehaha Community Water System and Big Sioux Community Water System that will ensure future water supply for both systems. This partnership entity was formed as part of the systems’ response to drought conditions in recent years. The project includes a treatment plant, well field, distribution pipeline, pump station, and two storage tanks.
