💡 Complex PCI Using Anchoring Balloon in LCx 💡 An innovative approach to treating a challenging RCA lesion! This case features an 81-year-old patient with a history of diabetes, smoking, and COPD who presented with severe ischemia in three territories. Despite mild RCA calcification on angiography, the lesion was balloon-uncrossable during PCI. Without access to a rotational atherectomy device, the team opted for a balloon anchoring technique using the left circumflex artery (LCx) as support—an alternative strategy that ultimately allowed lesion crossing and successful stent deployment. 📖 Learn more about the challenges of uncrossable lesions and the creative solutions employed in this case. The balloon anchoring strategy showcases its value in providing additional catheter support during complex PCIs. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eHgvmsFw #InterventionalCardiology #ComplexPCI #InnovationInMedicine #HeartHealth

🫀 #CaseReport Highlight: Treating a ruptured #coronary artery #aneurysm (CAA) in a 93-year-old. 🔍 Challenge: A giant CAA (28x34 mm) with pericardial effusion. Surgery was high risk due to age/frailty. 💡 Solution: PCI with IVUS-guided implantation of 2 overlapping covered stents. ✅ Result: Complete obliteration of the aneurysm & sealed CAA on follow-up CT. https://lnkd.in/gSQHEHDH 📚 Takeaway: Covered stents offer a viable, minimally invasive option for CAA treatment in high-risk patients. #InterventionalCardiology #PCI

#Coronary #Endarteritis After PCI: Insights from 11 Cases A recent study highlights the rare yet severe complications of coronary endarteritis and stent abscess ("stentocarditis") following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). 🩺 Key Findings: - Symptoms like fever, tamponade, and angina often appear within a week post-PCI. - Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were the leading culprits. - Surgery was required in severe cases, but antibiotic therapy also proved effective in select patients. 🔍 Challenges: No clear treatment guidelines exist, emphasizing the need for research into preventive and standardised management strategies. ➡️ Read more to understand this critical condition and how it impacts post-PCI care! https://lnkd.in/ecCWRwNk

New study on #angiographic patterns post-drug-coated balloon (#DCB) #angioplasty reveals key findings for de novo #coronary lesions: ◾ 91.1% of lesions showed no #restenosis ◾ 46% exhibited late lumen enlargement ◾ Restenosis affected 8.9%, primarily as focal restenosis (5.0%). This is the first classification of chronic-phase #angiographic outcomes after DCB angioplasty, helping inform long-term expectations. ➡️ Read the article on #AIJ: https://lnkd.in/eXtkXiKA
