Hey everyone! I’m excited to share a quick peek at something we’ve been working on: our new =Rosie.LLM() function for Excel, which brings ChatGPT-style AI directly into your spreadsheets. In this 1-min demo video, you’ll see how I used =Rosie.LLM() to translate our App Store listing into multiple languages—all without leaving Excel. It’s a game-changer if you deal with any sort of text processing, whether that’s translations, summarizing emails, or categorizing support tickets. If you’re curious to learn more, I’ve also written a short blog post that goes deeper into how it works and why we’re so excited about it: https://lnkd.in/g3KUEjPy It’s exclusively available for our Rosie Premium subscribers, but if you’re curious to try it out you can use promo code “ROSIELLM” at checkout for a free month. As always, I’d love to hear what you think—feel free to drop a comment or message me directly. Thank you!

The New York Times just spotlighted the Excel World Championship—yes, Excel! My cofounder Andrew and I attended the Las Vegas event in December and were blown away. It was complete with a hype tunnel, live audience, theme song (now available on Spotify!), and the best Excel modelers competing under real pressure. We even got to meet Andrew Ngai and Diarmuid Early—aka the Kobe and LeBron of Excel. One of our big goals at Rosie AI is to create an agent that can outperform these champions—Excel’s own “Deep Blue” moment. It’s a nerdy milestone, sure, but consider the impact on Excel’s billion users worldwide. Imagine if, instead of spending hours cleaning data, debugging formulas, and fixing formatting, you could just ask Rosie to do it—freeing you up to focus on the more important work of driving actionable insights. We’re not quite there yet, but we’re well on our way. If you’re curious, please give Rosie a try and let me know any feedback. Or if this mission excites you, please reach out as well—we’re hiring!

Why Excel is Still the Top of all Business Tools Billions of users. Decades of dominance. No replacement in sight. Excel isn’t just software—it’s the backbone of business. Over 1.5 billion people use Excel, from mom-and-pops to startups to Fortune 500s. Excel's flexibility and familiarity make it indispensable for building financial models or simple to-do lists. Why is Excel here to stay? 1/ Flexibility: It adapts to any need—budgets, projects, or data analysis. 2/ Familiarity: Everyone knows Excel—or knows someone who does. 3/ Interoperability: It connects teams across departments as a universal tool. 4/ Entrenchment: Excel is so deeply embedded in critical processes like payroll and invoicing that replacing it would require overhauling entire workflows, making it harder to replace than major systems like Salesforce or SAP. No other tool matches Excel's flexibility, dependability, and power—it's a go-to solution for getting work done. Rosie enhances Excel by helping you automate tedious tasks. Rosie simplifies data analysis, and by adding AI to your day-to-day, you can work smarter with a tool you already trust. How do you use Excel? What do you wish it did better? Let’s talk! 🚀

I’m in charge of cooking the turkey this year. While googling “how not to burn the bird,” I got completely sidetracked analyzing USDA turkey data. (I mean, who wouldn’t go down that rabbit hole, right?) Turns out turkeys are having a rough year. U.S. turkey production in 2024 dropped by 6.3%, which is wild for an industry that produced 5.5 billion pounds last year. Fun fact: Minnesota is the turkey capital of the U.S.—who knew? Also, while we’re eating less turkey here in the U.S. (hello, plant-based diets), global demand is flying high. Exports are projected to hit 504 million pounds this year, with countries like Mexico and China gobbling up all that U.S. turkey goodness. How did I uncover all these trends? Rosie. She helped me quickly analyze, visualize, and even hypothesize about the data. Checkout my full turkey writeup here: https://lnkd.in/g__cihcn So, while I’m still figuring out whether to brine or dry rub, at least I know my turkey stats are on point.

We’re honored and humbled by their belief in our mission. Thanks to our early adopters and my incredible cofounder, Andrew Tamura. Struggling with massive datasets in Excel? Let AI handle the heavy lifting. My team and I recently analyzed 1.8 million Amazon reviews in the 'CDs and Vinyl' category—a task that would've been daunting manually. Yes, people still buy CDs and vinyl! With Rosie, we overcame formatting errors and file size limits and extracted valuable insights in record time. When asked, "What insights can you help me uncover from these reviews?" she immediately suggested ten different analyses we could perform. One interesting insight? People write more when they love a product and less when they're unimpressed. Positive reviews averaged 65 words, while negative ones only had 41. “I wish I had this during my PhD—it would've been a game-changer!” A bioanalytical scientist recently used Rosie to analyze a large dataset about the brain. Think of it like working with sales data across multiple stores. Columns represent store locations, and rows track products. Here, the brain dataset tracked gene activity across cell types—neurons, astrocytes, and more (concepts way too advanced for this humble startup founder). The scientist loaded the CSV file and simply asked: “What cell types are stable across expression similar to this gene (HGNC:18)?” 🗨️ The process felt more like chatting with a colleague. In minutes, they had an answer that would've taken hours to find manually. The impact? More time for big-picture thinking and discovery. Imagine the time you could save in your own analysis! Tired of battling Excel? Let AI do the work. Forget the hype. It’s happening right now. As a management consultant, I thought I’d spend most of my time advising execs on big decisions and strategy. Instead, I was buried in Excel—95% of the time. 🧑💻 Fixing formulas. Cleaning up data. Troubleshooting complex models. I became the go-to Excel person at work. Colleagues constantly asked, “How do I do this formula?” or “Can you help fix this error?” Everyone wanted to work with me… or, rather, with my Excel skills. Sound familiar? That’s why I built Rosie. Rosie is your ultimate Excel assistant—like having a real-life expert in digital form. She handles the grunt work so you can focus on what truly matters. Right now, Rosie helps you use Excel to its full potential. But soon, she’ll be able to handle it all—automating workflows, delivering insights, and freeing you up to focus on more interesting things.
