𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗗𝗦𝗣𝗘 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝘁𝗵, 𝟭𝟮:𝟬𝟮-𝟭𝟮:𝟯𝟬 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀, 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 This DSPE Lunch Lecture is hosted by TU/e (Eindhoven University of Technology) and has the title "Potential of fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance for precision mechatronics". The lecture will be given by Koen Classens, postdoctoral researcher. In the high-tech #manufacturing industry, such as the #semiconductor industry, minimizing equipment downtime is crucial for maintaining productivity. Predictive maintenance, enabled by fault detection and isolation, enables to address system failures proactively. Digital twins, virtual counterparts of physical machines, offer a powerful tool for fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance by continuously comparing real-time data with predictions from mathematical models. This talk focuses on using these models, already developed during system design and integration phase, to enhance uptime and optimize the performance of mechatronic systems through systematic, model-based fault diagnosis. The American Society for Precision Engineering (ASPE) will organize their Annual Meeting on November 4-8. The location is Houston (USA). One of the tracks of this 39th ASPE event is the Business Forum. This forum aims to equip attendees with the knowledge to identify markets and develop effective strategies for achieving product-market fit for their products and technologies. This year’s forum, featuring presentations from successful business leaders, will provide attendees with practical tools and insights on how to explore new business opportunities and refine strategies for both new and existing markets. The goal is not just survival but thriving in a competitive landscape. The speakers on this forum are: + Dr. S.V. Sreenivasan (The University of Texas at Austin): Creating a 3DHI #microsystems prototyping and pilot fabrication center + Ton Peijnenburg (VDL ETG Technology & Development B.V.): Creating business opportunities based on technological challenges in #hightech equipment + Dr. R. Ryan Vallance (Senko Advanced Components): Emerging applications for #precisionengineering in optical communication + Brian O'Connor (Aerotech, Inc.): A framework for strategy development For more information about the Business Forum: https://lnkd.in/eV7KhmnG General information about the ASPE Annual Meeting can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eEzARvKE Cc. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐦 𝐯𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐞𝐤 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 2024? The DSPE Wim van der Hoek Award is an annual prize awarded to the student with the best graduation project in the field of #mechanical #engineering. In 2024 the prize will be awarded for the 19th time. We are requesting technical universities and technical universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands and Flanders to submit their students’ graduation reports before September 6th. An expert jury assesses the reports and selects the nominees from them. In the evening of September 23th or 30th or October 7th these nominees give a presentation to the jury via Teams, who then chooses a winner based on presentation and graduation report. The winner will be announced at the Precision Fair (Precisiebeurs) on November 14th. The winner will receive € 1.000.-, an original trophy, and a framed certificate. The other nominees will receive a certificate. All nominees may submit an abstract for the DSPE Conference 2025 and if awarded the opportunity to give a lecture or display a poster (with or without demonstration) and participate in the DSPE Conference 2025 free of charge. The prize is intended to bring greater attention to the area of design in #mechanicalengineering. The name of the prize refers to emeritus professor Wim van der Hoek, who from 1962 to 1985 laid the foundations for the unique Dutch method of design in mechanical engineering at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. Graduation reports from the academic year 2023/2024 may be submitted if the graduation date is between August 1st 2023 and July 31th 2024. When assessing the graduation reports, the quality of the design, substantiation, and innovativeness of the chosen solutions are the criteria, as well as the possibility to serve as an example in the book ‘Construction Principles’. Candidates must be nominated by the graduation supervisor, graduation teacher, or lecturer/professor. The 2024 jury consists of: Johan Vervoort (Vervos), Maurice Teuwen (JPE - Driven by innovation), Wouter Vogelesang (VH Consult), Marc Vermeulen (ASML), Hans Steijaert (Vanderlande), and chair Jos Gunsing (MaromeTech).
