Dr. Kala brings over two decades of experience, having served the community of Bad Axe for the past 20 years. She earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital. Otaibi, DO, a highly experienced General Surgeon specializing in Venous Ablation treatments, will begin practicing on June 3, 2024 at Marlette Regional Hospital. Dr. Otaibi brings over 20 years of experience as a general surgeon, specializing in vascular surgery. He will be providing a range of medically necessary venous procedures, including various ablations performed with radio frequency, Varithena, VenaSeal, or laser technology, depending on the specific needs of each patient. Additionally, Dr. Otaibi will offer sclerotherapy for superficial varicose veins. Dr. Otaibi earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his fellowship and residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital. Dr. Otaibi is board-certified in general surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.   • Aspire Rural Health System Welcomes Podiatrist Aspire Rural Health System is thrilled to announce the addition of Dr. Alex Dandashly, DPM, to its medical team. Dr. Dandashly will be offering comprehensive podiatry services at Marlette Regional Hospital and Deckerville Community Hospital. Dr. Dandashly specialized focus areas encompass a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including diabetic footcare, bunions, hammertoes, arch issues, foot fractures and sprains, nail disorders, and general ankle and foot care for patients of all ages. As a highly qualified professional, Dr. Dandashly earned his bachelor’s degree in biomedical physics from Wayne State University before obtaining his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Ohio. He furthered his career through a residency program in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, with a focus on reconstructive rear foot/ankle training, at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University and Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak. During his residency, he received extensive training in foot and ankle trauma, adult and pediatric reconstructive surgery, and diabetic limb salvage, solidifying his expertise in these critical areas of podiatric care.   • Aspire Rural Health System Announces Opening of Port Sanilac Healthcare Clinic Aspire Rural Health System is thrilled to announce the opening of its new healthcare clinic in Port Sanilac. Located at 245 S. Ridge St., the Port Sanilac Healthcare Clinic is set to open its doors in the spring. Dr. Faraaz Ahmed, MD, Internal Medicine, will be the primary healthcare provider at the Port Sanilac Clinic, offering comprehensive medical services to patients aged 18 and older. Dr. Ahmed is currently engaged in patient care in Cass City. Dr. Ahmed graduated from Ross University of Medicine and attended Ascension St. John in Detroit for his residency.
