🎄 🎅 12 Days Until Christmas 🎅 🎄 "I joined ASPRS to enhance my geospatial education and expand my professional network. Through the support and encouragement of fellow members, I pursued and earned the Certified Photogrammetrist designation, followed by the Certified Mapping Scientist in Lidar certification. These esteemed ASPRS credentials have been pivotal in shaping my career, and I can confidently say that my professional development and current position in the geospatial field would not be where they are today without ASPRS. I decided to run for an ASPRS office as a way to give back to the community that has given me so much. Whether you're a student or an experienced geospatial professional, I highly recommend joining ASPRS to take full advantage of the professional development opportunities that have been instrumental in advancing my career." The group of the ASPRS - San Diego State University Student Chapter has been busy but in a good way!
Thrilled to share insights from a recent encounter with Dr. Jim Tucker, a pioneer in the field of satellite data and environmental research. Dr. Tucker's groundbreaking work spans several decades, during which he has leveraged coarse-resolution satellite data to unlock new perspectives on global photosynthesis, land cover changes, and more. His research has been pivotal in areas such as drought monitoring, famine early warning, and disease outbreak prediction, enhancing our understanding of Earth's dynamic systems. His recent work involves utilizing machine learning and high-performance computing to map billions of trees and translate this data into carbon measurements at the individual tree level. A huge thank you to Dr. Tucker for sharing his experiences and continuing to inspire our community with his innovative approaches to studying our planet! #ASPRS #RemoteSensing #EnvironmentalScience #SpaceArchaeology #SatelliteData
