Many people may be planning to travel and meet friends and family this holiday season. We think this is a good time to send a reminder that family caregivers can prevent infections and stay safe during this season by remembering to properly wash their hands. Here are some tips for properly washing your hands: - Wet hands with clean water and then apply soap. - Create a lather by rubbing your hands together. - Wash under your nails, between fingers and the backs of your hands, even around your wrist. - Wash your hands for least 20 seconds. One trick to making sure you do this is to sing or hum the happy birthday song twice. - If you don't have soap and water readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to clean your hands.
