In #ASK4Girls Session 6 in #Ghana, we asked adolescent girls, "How has ASK4Girls helped you to communicate with people in your life?". Here are some of the responses we received after implementing an activity where, through discussion and role-playing, students practice verbal and nonverbal skills that are necessary for communicating about sexual behavior, decisions, and health issues: ⭐ “Ask4Girls Club has helped me to put all my fear away which has helped me to communicate with people in my life.” ⭐ “I am encouraged to express myself.” ⭐ “It has helped me know the importance of talking to people whenever I am having problems.” Through creating scenarios in which students practice how to handle certain issues using assertive communication, they learn that speaking up for oneself can be difficult, but they always have the right to express their thoughts and emotions! Association for Community Empowerment Solutions is continuously working towards encouraging and empowering women to raise their voices in demanding the rights that are deserved! 💡Did You Know? Of the 80 million people who need a wheelchair, only 5–35% have access to one, depending on the country in which they live! Those in low income areas have considerable less access to assistive technology they need. Barriers such as low awareness, high costs, limited physical access/range, procurement challenges, inadequate policy, funding and sociodemographic obstacles all impact access. 💡Addressing the unmet need for assistive products is crucial for achieving equality! Together, let's raise public awareness and combat stigma regarding assistive technology and persons with disabilities. Check out ACESWorld.org to see how we're raising awareness for underserved communities and groups who suffer from health inequity. #AssistiveTechnology #RaiseAwareness #BreakDownBarriers World Health Organization Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) American Foundation for the Blind United Cerebral Palsy Administration for Community Living

As we move into winter, we brace for colder weather and shorter days that have more people spending time indoors. And while for many the season brings cozy holiday celebrations and the occasional snow day, winter can also bring risks for home fires, weather-related injuries, and car crashes. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and stop preventable injuries: ❄️ Have your home heating system inspected to make sure it works properly and that the heat reaches all rooms in your home ❄️ If you don’t have a heating system in your home, be prepared with safe alternative heating options (layered clothing, blankets, portable space heaters, fireplace) ❄️ Older adults, people who don’t exercise regularly, and people with certain health conditions should have someone else to take care of snow removal. ❄️ Still wear sunscreen when you’re outside! ❄️ Practice safe driving habits (always wear your seatbelt, clean snow & ice off car completely, winterize your car, & keep an emergency kit) ❄️ Evaluate gifts for potential injuries, especially towards children (sharp edges, flammability, toxic materials, etc.) ❄️ Make sure your artificial tree is fire resistant, and always inspect string lights for fraying before plugging in or taking down. ❄️ Always make sure your smoke alarms are installed & working properly. Stay safe & have a happy holidays. 🙎🏻♀️ When the term “women’s and girls’ rights” comes up, what initially crosses your mind? What does this statement mean to you? Interpreting this statement remains subjective and continues to evolve alongside individual experiences! 🙎🏾♀️ ACESWorld's blog, "Evolving Perspectives: A Journey through Women and Girls’ Rights", explores the diverse narratives of three distinct individuals to help shed light on the different interpretations of women’s and girls’ rights against the backdrop of their personal experiences. By combining personal narratives with statistics, we can foster a deeper understanding and advocate for a world where every woman and girl can exercise their rights freely. 🙎🏼♀️ Scan the QR code or click the following link to read the blog: https://ow.ly/ju6850Uyc6m!
