California Coastal Art & Poetry Contest: California students in kindergarten through 12th grade can submit artwork or poetry about California's coast and ocean by January 31, 2025. Ten winners will be selected, and each will receive a $100 gift certificate to Blick Art Materials or a bookstore, plus four tickets to Aquarium of the Pacific. Each winner’s teacher will receive a $50 gift certificate from Acorn Naturalists. Winning art and poetry will be part of a traveling exhibit through the end of 2025. It's time to register for the Statewide Conference! Join us for a weekend of learning, networking, and fun in Marin County! The conference is held Friday afternoon through Sunday lunch and includes 40+ workshops, a keynote speaker, an awards ceremony, resource fair, live and silent auction, EE Certification Program presentations, evening entertainment, and more. Come for Saturday only or stay for the whole weekend. Lodging and meals are offered onsite starting with dinner on Friday through lunch on Sunday. Registration is open now! This year’s conference theme is "Roots and Branches: Strengthening Community and Expanding Impact." Interested in submitting a workshop proposal? Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a teaching approach that works to accommodate the needs and abilities of all learners and eliminates unnecessary barriers in the learning process. This course is designed to encourage you to reflect deeply on your practice to focus on how you plan and teach to support all learners. The course content and associated assignments are geared towards practicing environmental and outdoor educators. We hope this course will inspire you to strengthen your pedagogical practices so they are more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible. One graduate unit from the University of San Diego is available upon completion of the course. Join your colleagues from across the state for an overnight retreat on the beautiful site of Camp Ocean Pines in Cambria, CA. The site is just minutes from the coast, and optional morning excursions can include nature walks around the property, a short hike down to the coastline, or a short drive to see the elephant seals.
