The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) County recently highlighted how it’s uniquely situated within the country’s third largest biotech hub where the demand for highly skilled workers continues to grow. Through UMBC’s Transitional Life Sciences Technology (TLST) program, students have the opportunity to engage in valuable learning and prepare for their careers in biotech. We are proud to support UMBC’s TLST students through our Student Partnership and Research Collaboration (SPARC) program. Our General Manager & Senior Vice President Ruth R Cheng, PhD, sees the clear benefits of the TLST program and said, “The hands-on lab training provided by the TLST program has prepared students for impactful careers at ATCC.” Read UMBC’s full article to learn more about students’ inspiring journeys in the TLST program and at ATCC: https://ow.ly/pVyn50Uq7QZ Additionally, if you or someone you know is interested in our SPARC program, visit the following page to view our Associate Biologist job description: https://ow.ly/iMGV50Uq7QX

Since 2008, the International Reagent Resource Program (IRR) , funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and managed by ATCC, has provided essential resources for the surveillance and detection of influenza and other respiratory pathogens year-round. By acquiring, authenticating, and producing essential reagents, the IRR supports scientists in conducting fundamental research and developing advanced diagnostic tests, vaccines, and detection methods. The IRR enhances global Influenza surveillance by monitoring circulating influenza virus strains and providing rapid access to essential reagents, panels, and diagnostic tools. The IRR program plays a vital role in improving the selection of strains for seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccines. IRR ensures that high-quality materials are available for influenza research, which is vital for understanding the virus, improving vaccine formulations, and enhancing immunization strategies. Consequently, the IRR program significantly contributes to global efforts in preventing influenza outbreaks and protecting public health. By doing so, we aim to create a world where people can live healthier and longer lives through effective prevention, detection, and response. Stay protected, stay healthy! #NationalInfluenzaVaccinationWeek #FluShot
