Audubon Schools operates two of the most in-demand public elementary schools in New Orleans, in Uptown and Gentilly.

About us

Audubon Schools operates two high demand public elementary schools offering a high-quality, non-traditional education for New Orleans students with programming not available at any other public school in the city. We focus on cultivating the whole child through individualized hands-on learning, multi-cultural and language exposure, and emphasis on arts education. Established in 1981 as a Montessori school, Audubon Charter School also became an official French School in an historical agreement between the French Government and the State of Louisiana. It was chartered in 2006 under the governance of the Board of French and Montessori Education, Inc. (FAME, Inc.). In response to overwhelming demand for our school year over year, Audubon Gentilly opened in Fall 2018 to enable more New Orleans students to have access to a high-quality, non-traditional education. Audubon’s mission is to foster a culturally rich and academically rigorous learning environment using French and Montessori curricula and a comprehensive arts curriculum. We pride ourselves on offering a high-quality, non-traditional education for New Orleans students with programming not available at any other public school in the city. Audubon Uptown offers two programs in one school for over 800 students in grades K-8, a Montessori program and an authentic French program. Audubon Gentilly currently serves students in grades K-7 and will grow to serve up to 450 students in grades K-8 by 2024. Audubon Gentilly features a Montessori-based academic model with French language infusion.
