We’re excited to kick off the new year alongside partners like Freestyle's Language at Work Program who share our commitment to growth, learning, and excellence. Together, we’re dedicated to delivering greater value to our clients and the workforce in 2025.
Who doesn't love the promise of a new year!? We're particularly excited to get to work on these NEW initiatives that we know will make a difference in both individuals' lives and in the workforce. And, we're grateful for this work entrusted to us by several partners and associations: ✨ Workforce Solutions Capital Area ✨ ✨ Austin Safety Council ✨ ✨ Austin AGC ✨ While we'll continue our usual #Spanish and #English programs focused on #construction for GC's, subcontractors and related associations, we're eager to use our model to make job sites safer and to upskill the workforce through #nonprofit work as well. There's much work to be done in order to create #opportunities and to #uplift people through language, especially for those who speak Spanish as a first language - and we absolutely can't wait to dig in! (With special gratitude for language experts Steven J. Sacco Orlando Kelm who'll make it so much fun, too!) #languagelearning #safety #aec #connection #community #workforcedevelopment #bilingualism #onlinelearning #HUB #MWBE #womanownedbusinessenterprise

Exciting news! Workforce Solutions Capital Area has been selected as one of Texas Mutual Insurance Company’s 2024 grant partners, and we’re proud to collaborate with them on this transformative initiative. In the construction industry, safety is the foundation of success. Yet, language barriers can often pose challenges on-site, leading to misunderstandings and potential risks. That’s why this partnership with Workforce Solutions Capital Area, Austin AGC, and Freestyle's Language at Work Program is so critical. Together, we’re integrating language learning into safety training to break down these barriers. This project will empower construction workers with the skills they need to communicate effectively, reduce accidents, and unlock greater opportunities for career growth. At ASC, we believe everyone deserves to go home safely at the end of the day. This partnership is a step forward in protecting Texas construction workers and helping them thrive. Learn more👇

Lunch & Learn, Bridging the Gap Between Technical and People Skills in Construction, Thursday, Oct 24, 2024, at 11 AM! Hosted at Austin Safety Council, presented by Dr. Alejandra Mielke, this event is tailored for construction leaders. Register https://lnkd.in/gQFEDKMt - In today’s fast-paced, ever-evolving workplace, technical expertise alone isn’t enough. While #managers and #supervisors must be skilled at utilizing the latest tools and technologies, they also need the ability to inspire and #empower #teams, foster #cooperation, and build meaningful partnerships. With multiple generations in the workforce, including those retiring and those just entering the industry, the #construction sector must focus on proven and culturally competent #leadership skills that create safer, more productive, and efficient teams. The future of leadership lies in bridging the gap between technical know-how and people-leading skills. Join us! Register https://lnkd.in/gQFEDKMt

Happy Friday! Today is the last day of #ConstructionInclusionWeek and this past Wednesday I attended again the supplier diversity breakfast & networking event sponsored by the #InclusiveBuildersAlliance of Central Texas. My favorite part of the event is to meet powerful leaders in the #construction industry in Central Texas - wonderful women like Stefani Mayberry from Austin Safety Council and Elizabeth Mack pictured with me. But my second favorite part of the event is seeing this wall at DPR Construction where the event has been held. I saw it for the first time in 2023. The Spanish phrase "De Bueno a Chingón" shook me in a good way, as I was pleasantly surprised to realize that somebody had taken the time to intentionally use that phrase in the break room to bring Spanish in and create a way for Spanish-speaking construction workers to see them and their culture as part of the company. #power I have asked a few DPR Construction contacts here in Austin about the origin of the wall. Although I still don't have the whole story, I applaud the effort. As an intercultural and leadership expert, I know that many times it takes more than only the language or a few letters on a wall to connect with others, but heck... this is good. Intentional and actionable effort is noticeable - never forget that. If you want to truly connect with your team members in ways that can create a ultra productive work environment, reach out to start the conversation. #inclusiveleadership #leadershipdevelopment #culturalcompetency #construction #latinoleaders #latinxpower #sisepuede #español
