[News] POSCO International Completes First Gas Processing Facility at Senex Energy's Atlas Field. POSCO International has reached a key milestone with the completion of its first gas processing facility at the Atlas gas field in central Queensland, Australia. The facility's completion marks the start of test operations, a crucial step in the company's plan to significantly boost natural gas production at POSCO's Australian subsidiary, Senex Energy. The ceremony to celebrate the facility's completion on November 24 was attended by several prominent figures, including Federal Senator Susan McDonald, POSCO International President Lee Kye-in, and Hancock Prospecting Executive Chairwoman Gina Rinehart. POSCO International, which holds a 50.1% stake in Senex, aims to increase production from 20 petajoules to 60 petajoules annually, enough to produce about 1.2 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The new processing facility plays a vital role in this goal by purifying and compressing natural gas for distribution across eastern Australia. With plans to open two more processing facilities in the near future, POSCO aims to further support the growing energy demand in Australia's eastern states. The project is set to contribute to both economic growth and energy security in the region. POSCO's commitment to Senex's development underscores its role in Australia's energy future, helping ensure a stable and sustainable gas supply for years to come. For more: https://lnkd.in/g7r9R2sB

[Member News] Korea Zinc Company, Ltd (고려아연) and Hanwha(한화) to Lead Australia’s Largest Battery Storage Project. Ark Energy Corporation, the Australian arm of Korea Zinc, has teamed up with Hanwha to develop a cutting-edge 2,200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) with an 8-hour discharge capacity. Hanwha emerged as the preferred supplier after an intensive, year-long selection process that assessed both domestic and international options against Australia’s stringent standards. The project is part of the Richmond Valley energy initiative in New South Wales (NSW) and aligns with Korea Zinc’s Troika Drive strategy to embrace renewable energy and sustainability. Commissioning is expected to start in 2026. Once operational, this BESS will strengthen grid stability across NSW while supporting the region’s transition to greener energy sources. "The selection of Hanwha as the preferred bidder for the battery supplier signifies that Korea Zinc and Hanwha Group will continue their cooperation in the eco-friendly renewable energy and hydrogen business. It also means that they will jointly target the rapidly growing BESS market in Australia, which is being driven by the government," said a spokesperson from Korea Zinc to Business Korea.
