The dual-write problem presents itself in all distributed systems. A system that uses SpiceDB for authorization and also has an application database (read: most of them) is a distributed system. Working around the dual-write problem typically requires a non-trivial amount of work and this stream will discuss the different approaches to do so.

📝 We'd love your feedback on a preview feature 📝 Couple of weeks ago, we released composable schemas in preview mode. As the name suggests, this feature now enables you to write your schemas into different parts and compile them together. There are now three new pieces of syntax: 1. import statements 2. partial declarations 3. partial references. We think composable schemas opens up a world of possibilities while building your Permissions systems. The documentation link is in the comments. Do send us your feedback over on Github or Discord.

💑 Managing too many relationships? Maybe it’s best to let some of them expire… 💑 SpiceDB makes it easier to let them go and the AuthZed team sends emotional support with our handpicked playlist for just the occasion: https://hubs.li/Q036CGBp0

Lets talk about Expiring Relationships before Valentine's Day 💔 You can now define a lifespan for relationships in schema, preventing unintended access through lingering permissions. Relationship expiration terms can also be dynamically defined by application end users, providing them with even more granular control over how they choose to share data. Office Hours format, so bring any questions you have.
