🌹 Love was in the air this week, but so was innovation! 🌹 Last Wednesday, we celebrated more than just Valentine's Day—we celebrated our love for tech and transformation! 🎉 Tech enthusiasts gathered at the beautiful Dynatrace office @ ICON Tower for an evening full of insights, inspiration, and real-world success stories. 🔹 Lukas Nagl, CTO of myClubs, shared how and why myClubs moved from a monolithic to an event-driven architecture. He explained that while a monolith is great to start with, it can slow you down when you need to scale. Their new setup helps them innovate quickly, even as their system gets more complex. Two things that really stood out: 🧑💻👩💻👨💻 How a small team can build a global app used by thousands. 🌐 How many users a single database can handle if managed well. 🔹 Serda Kasaci Yildirim from Amazon Web Services (AWS) showed us why going serverless is a great choice for building AI applications. She shared many current AI use cases and how to set up your cloud infrastructure to avoid the limitations and costs of AWS's foundation models. ✨ The past three days at AWS re:Invent were filled with incredible moments, and I’d love to share some highlights with you. It all started Monday morning with my talk about Amazon Q Business Apps, showcasing how these apps can scale and enhance community engagement - a topic that truly means the world to me. (The talk is already on YouTube if you’re curious - link in the comments!) At the expo, I caught up with Gerta S. and Thomas Rausch, both former and future speakers of the AWS User Group Vienna. It’s always inspiring to discuss their work with LocalStack and their ongoing contributions to the community. Later, I was interviewed by Cobus Bernard and the AWS video team, where we talked about what to expect from AI in the next five years. After Matt Garman’s keynote, I made my way to Raphael Manke’s session on AWS Lambda Powertools, a proud moment for the Förderverein AWS Community DACH e.V. (as the second of in total 4 people being on the stage from our local community). On the way, I bumped into Ashley Lyon, Brian H. Hough, proving yet again that re:Invent is as much about the people you meet as the knowledge you gain. One of the most inspiring moments came when I led the Women in Tech session alongside Suzana Melo Moraes. It was a privilege to host and amplify the voices of Annariina Komljenovic, Monica Colangelo, and so many other incredible women who shared their stories and experiences. Moments like this remind me why community is at the heart of what I do. Finally, I attended a talk by Johannes Koch, Thorsten Höger, and Gunnar Grosch on the modern CI/CD toolbox—an insightful dive into tools and practices for staying ahead in tech. I ended my third day of my re:Invent experience with a Generative AI workshop on Amazon Bedrock, hosted by Franz Stefan, Marco Sommella, Gaurav Arora, Robert Hanuschke and Adrian Begg. As a cherry on top, I won a LEGO unicorn! 🦄 And last but not least it is always amazing to also see some familiar faces like Alexander Deles and Philipp Bergsmann. These moments, these conversations, and these connections are what make re:Invent such an enriching experience.
