The International Space Station National Laboratory supported 110 payloads across seven missions in 2024, including the third Axiom Space (Ax-3) private astronaut mission carrying research from NSCF and the UC San Diego Sanford Stem Cell Institute. “An investigation from the National Stem Cell Foundation evaluated 3D brain models derived from induced pluripotent stem cells of patients with Parkinson’s disease and primary progressive multiple sclerosis. Back in September, Astrolab and Axiom Space worked together on final adjustments to pack up our FLEX rover mockup for delivery to NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Axiom Space and Astrolab engineers are working to ensure the integration of the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) with the FLEX rover mockup, in support of Artemis’ unprecedented scientific experimentation and discovery on the lunar surface. The mockup came together through months of work at Astrolab’s office in Hawthorne, California and Axiom’s office in Houston, Texas, in close coordination with NASA and the team at JSC.

Congratulations to Brazilian Limitless Global Educator Vanessa Oliveira and her 4th and 5th grade students at Escola Municipal Jaguariaíva! In partnership with Axiom Space, their experiment, “Conservation of Momentum, " was selected to fly in microgravity on the International Space Station in 2025. This experiment will demonstrate the concepts of conservation of momentum and energy transfer between objects of different masses on Earth and in microgravity. Axiom Space is dedicated to helping educate and encourage the next generation of space explorers to continue reaching for the stars. Through the Limitless Space Institute’s STEM Education Program, Axiom Space aims to encourage students to think critically, solve complex problems, and innovate, which are essential skills to advance the space industry. This LSI program is one way Axiom Space is engaging students to consider a STEAM career and preparing them with 21st century skills to fulfill the future workforce.
