#Tariffs!! Our weekly collaboration with Grupo Expansión and José Avila Muñoz is published where we provide our analysis and comments regarding the exchange market. This week the effect of tariffs on the peso-dollar exchange rate. In our humble opinion and analysis, tariffs are always taxes on the local economy disguised as protectionism. We will have to wait many years to verify that the negative impact (short term?) produces the desired effect of establishing a local productive base of eminently American manufacturing.

At our AZTLAN Equity Management investment commitee, we recently reviewed our global outlook for gold. At least 2 items caught my attention: 1- cash cost curve should just below $2k/oz. At 3k the general profit outlook for gold miners should be favorable. Let´s look at these companies! 2- Gold has decoupled from US interest rates. This process started in 2024 and continues to date but something's got to give...Is it interest rates too low, gold price too high, inflation expectations too high? Or maybe the risk outlook is so uncertain that the current trend will continue?
