The Stone House of St. Charles looks utterly enchanting during the holiday season! This Missouri wedding venue includes 4,800 square feet of event space within a 7,200-square-foot building. We used Douglas fir timber frames, cedar siding, and a shingle roof for a classic look, complemented by modified hammer beam trusses. The trusses bring a particularly unique look to this beautiful and dramatic event venue. Architect: LePique & Ose Architects, Inc. Reminiscent of classic Virginia Greek Revival architecture, the exterior of this horse barn features columns, an octagonal cupola, large round pediment windows, and a copper-roofed portico. And though the outside is undeniably delightful to the eye, the interior may be even more enticing. Absolute symmetry from floor to high-arched ceiling gives a grand perspective, enhancing the visual effect of length in the building. Skylights along the roof add natural light, keeping the timber columns and beams awash in color. 📸: Jana Bannan #HorseBarn #Equestrian #BarnBuilder

Nearly a decade has passed since the construction of this arena, and it remains as stunning today as it was then. The beauty of these glue-laminated timber arches by Mid-Atlantic Timberframes is unmatched, and their structural strength ensures that equestrians will enjoy the arena for generations to come. Windows that open like garage doors were installed along the sides, offering protection from the elements while allowing riders the option to enjoy fresh air. Originating from early German settlers to Pennsylvania, bank barn design combines practical functionality with a unique architectural approach: the barn is partially built into an embankment, creating a distinct separation between its two levels. The ingenuity of those early farmers and craftsmen has endured and spread, lending their creation’s practicality to equestrian structures and mixed-use facilities alike. Especially for properties with undulating elevations, a bank barn may be the ideal choice. Photographer: Jana Bannan Architect: Neumann Lewis Buchanan Architects #BankBarn #BarnBuilder #Equestrian

This 10-stall horse barn and open-air arena needed to stand up to the extreme wind and rain that come with Florida's hurricane season. We reverse-engineered the timber structure to resist 55 lbs. per square foot wind uplift and protect the structure from hurricane winds greater than 120 miles per hour. Large overhangs shield the footing from becoming saturated with rain. When asked what it takes to build a structure that strong, our co-owner Daniel Glick answered: "A lot of planning, an experienced team, and more than 17,000 lbs. of stainless steel timber hardware." Most wine enthusiasts have their own wine cellar. But they’re not just for practical purposes, like having a temperature-controlled location to store your wine collection. Today’s wine cellars are beautiful works of art. Modern layouts might have chic designs, with backlighting to illuminate the bottles, or rustic brick walls with vaulted arch ceilings. Whether the collection is enclosed in glass or showcased in an open display, the aesthetic options for luxury wine cellars are endless.
