Successful pressure test achieved at the Kelvin waste-to-energy plant in the UK. During this structural integrity and safety test, the boiler system is pressurized to over twice its normal operating pressure. B&W’s scope of supply at Kelvin includes the combustion equipment, multi-pass horizontal boiler design along with our Adaptive SNCR for NOx control. Its air-cooled DynaGrate® combustion grate will process 52 tons per hour of post-recycled residual waste, reaching a 135 MW thermal input and generating 44MW (gross) of baseload electricity, equivalent to the needs of 95,000 homes. https://lnkd.in/gUP3egtj

To improve surface hardness and minimize abrasion in the small clearance between sootblowers' feed tube outer diameter and lance tube inner diameter, you can apply a chrome coating to the tubing. But because the chrome plating doesn’t have the same thermal expansion characteristics as the stainless steel feed tube material, cracking and peeling result when subjected to heat during sootblower cycles. Our Asia-Pacific team is performing another successful major outage project that includes boiler inspection, repair and maintenance -- this one at the Sual Power Plant in the Philippines. B&W COO Chris Riker and VP, Global Parts & Field Engineering Services Matt Taylor visited the jobsite this week and met with the outstanding crew performing the work.

At the Sisimiut #WasteToEnergy plant, topping out was completed before the onset of #Greenland’s long polar nights. The plant is designed to process 71 tons per day of unrecyclable municipal waste to generate heat for the residents of Greenland's second-largest city.
