The Conway team recently donated equipment, including new body armor and a helmet, to support the local Conway Police Department. Part of the standard patrol route for the department includes the perimeter of the Conway plant. The Bakelite Botlek BV – Seattleweg office recently supported the Proteas Foundation with a €1,500 donation for the Book Club Program. The Proteas Foundation is committed to giving every child, regardless of background or circumstances, the opportunity to choose their own path in study and career without limitations. The foundation’s online Book Club Program aims to build a strong foundation for learning and curiosity, partnering volunteers with children ages 8 to 11. As part of Bakelite’s holiday community engagement initiative, our sites in Germany supported the Balthasar children’s hospice in Olpe, Germany with a special donation and to bring joy to the children and their families. The Christmas packages included scarves, hats, jackets and cuddly toys for the children, as well as Bakelite water bottles and coffee mugs. Bakelite has supported the children’s hospice for many years. Set up in 1998 as Germany's first children's hospice, Balthasar cares for children diagnosed with life-threatening conditions and provides a supportive environment for families going through a very difficult journey. Bakelite’s Cowie site recently donated needed items to two local primary schools that it has been supporting over the years. Cowie associates donated food items for one of the school’s food banks, which serves local families in need. Associates also donated a new set of two-way radios to the other school – necessary communication tools that help staff respond quickly to any incidents on school grounds. At Bakelite, we are committed to serving the communities in which we live and work. Our Columbus, Ohio site recently showed its support for the surrounding community through a donation drive benefiting a local elementary school. Associates at the Columbus plant collected sporting equipment, clothing and other items to donate to Watkins Elementary School. In sum, Columbus associates donated more than 50 items including clothing, board games, a pool and foosball table, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk and other equipment for the school.
