The Wesley Rehabilitation Center (A Campus of Wesley Medical Center) in Wichita, Kansas, is now complete! This state-of-the-art facility will provide vital in-patient rehabilitation services to the community and surrounding towns. It not only addresses a critical need for accessible care in central Kansas but also stands as a testament to thoughtful, community-centered design. Barge provided architectural and interior design services, overcoming challenges to ensure the building harmonized with its residential surroundings. Team members participated in several community meetings throughout a complex rezoning process. By listening to local residents' concerns, #TeamBarge made thoughtful design adjustments that struck a balance between addressing the community's interests and meeting the client's needs. Key design features include natural daylight integration, visual markers to aid rehabilitation progress, and a central courtyard designed as a multifunctional space for healing and relaxation. We’re grateful for our long-standing partnership with Wesley Medical Center, and for the collaboration with I.C. Thomasson Associates, Inc., a Salas O'Brien Company, Stanley D. Lindsey & Associates, Ltd. (SDL), Catalyst Design Group, PC, and JE Dunn Construction. #Design #Rehabiliation #Healthcare #BargeDesignSolutions

We stepped into the rich history of the eternal city, Rome, to celebrate this year’s GINGERTOWN™! Established in 2006 in Washington D.C. by David M. Schwarz Architects (DMSA) and proudly presented in Nashville by ESa since 2010, GINGERTOWN™ stands out as a unique holiday initiative bringing together top architects, engineers, and contractors in the region, along with building enthusiasts of all ages, to collaboratively construct an entire town made entirely of gingerbread and candy, all in the spirit of giving back. All proceeds generated from this delightful venture go towards supporting various charitable organizations, including Hospitality House, The Next Door, Ronald McDonald House, The Store at Belmont University, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This year’s site award winners are: Best Expression of Theme: Barge Design Solutions Best Overall Craftsmanship: David Joffe - ESa Most Innovative Use of Materials: Shaw Construction Best of Show: Smith Gee Studio Rick Jones Spirit of GINGERTOWN™ Award: Catalyst Design Group, PC People’s Choice: T.W. Frierson Contractor, Inc. There were two sites that did not win top awards, but the jury wanted to recognize with special commendations: KPFF Consulting Engineers and Cremona Custom Built A heartfelt thank you goes out to I.C. Thomasson Associates, Inc., a Salas O'Brien Company for graciously joining us as presenting sponsors. & a special grazie to all our amazing volunteers who make this event possible. Until next year, arrivederci!
