Over 1.4 million young people are considering a career in #Construction — a number that continues to grow. During National Apprenticeship Week, we published Redrow's annual Apprenticeship Report, which highlights the increasing interest in construction careers among young people. Apprenticeships play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of industry professionals across Barratt Redrow. One great example is Charlotte Baker, our Trainee Designer in Tamworth. Starting as an Undergraduate Apprentice with Redrow, Charlotte now excels in CAD, planning, and site layout design — a great example of how #apprenticeships can open doors to exciting careers in construction. February marks LGBT+ History Month, an annual celebration in the UK dedicated to raising awareness, challenging discrimination, and celebrating the diversity and achievements of the LGBT+ community. It also marks the repeal of Section 28 in 2003—a law that silenced discussions about LGBT+ identities, reinforcing stigma for decades. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲: ‘𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲’. This year’s theme highlights the powerful role of LGBT+ individuals and allies have played in shaping a more equal and open society. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴? The UK's first-of-its-kind water treatment works has been unveiled at our development, The Woodlands, in Kent. It is the first purpose-built solution to enter full service in the UK for a housing developer specifically to meet Nutrient Neutrality requirements. Colleagues from Barratt Redrow, EPS Water UK and Icosa Water Ltd recently welcomed members of Canterbury City Council to unveil the new treatment works. On the tour councillors heard about the positive outcomes for The Woodlands and for Canterbury, and discussed the future operations of the plant. Councillor Mel Dawkins, Cabinet Lead for Biodiversity and Climate Change, said: “At Canterbury City Council, our main aim is to create a cleaner, greener, safer and more inclusive environment for all who live in our city. Professors Richard Fitton and William Swan showed the capabilities of the world-leading climate chamber at The University of Salford, which helps businesses to understand how effective their products and services are in lowering consumers’ carbon footprint and reducing energy bills.
