Great talk coming to #UIUC!
Plant Scientist | Plant Physiologist | Plant Molecular Biologist | Agricultural Scientist | R&D | Leadership
Aside from the intensity of study and the mental demands of graduate school, one of the questions Masters and PhD students battle with regularly is the “what’s next post Grad school?” Question! Which is why as a mentor within the Bayer University Mentoring Program (B4U) I am happy to share my learnings and my story with my fellow Africans at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Thanks for reaching out. I’m humbled to be your guest! #Africa #Bayer #UIUC

On October 24th, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center (DDPSC) hosted its annual BioBash, a community-driven career networking and job fair event proudly sponsored by Bayer. This free, one-day event brought together the St. Louis scientific community to explore a wide range of career opportunities in the life sciences. One of the highlights of the BioBash was our B4U booth at the Job Fair & Networking Mixer. The booth attracted a large audience, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to connect with #teambayer representatives and learn more about career opportunities within the company. This vibrant space fostered valuable conversations, allowing attendees to ask questions and gain insights into the life science industry. Great to see joint B4U cohort event. thank you Lisa Ortego NILESH DIGHE Mark Thomas Kaitlyn Courville Noam Eckshtain-Levi and #teambayer folks that helped. Hi mentees, if you joined this event please tag yourself
How can we grow more nutritious and tastier veggies using #CRISPR technology? That was one of the take-aways from our visit to Pairwise as part of a recent Bayer University Mentoring Program event. About twenty mentees from North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Virginia Tech came together for a special tour and networking event along with Bayer scientists Sheila Flack, Allen Olmstead, NILESH DIGHE, Lula Ghebremichael Natasha Dixon and Laura McConnell. The Pairwise scientists demonstrated how they are developing products that are delicious, produce higher yields, and are more climate resistant. The mentees got a look at new products in development like pitless cherries and seedless blackberries, and we even got to try some of their tasty mustard greens. Many thanks to Pairwise for providing an outstanding tour of their facility and showcasing their work (Marisa Miller). Thank you also to Kathleen Denya at the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative (Adrian Percy) at NC State for hosting the lunch and providing a tour of their facilities, highlighting the public-private partnerships they are so excellent at cultivating. Thanks also to Kaitlyn Courville Mark Thomas, and Noam Eckshtain-Levi for their work in organizing the event, and to the fabulous mentees for keeping us on our toes with enthusiasm and excellent questions! #TeamBayer #FutureLeaders #Networking #CareerDevelopment #MentorshipMatters #B4U #mentoring

In our recent workshops, we delved into the Six Types of Working Genius framework, equipping mentors with the tools to identify and optimize their unique strengths. By understanding the distinct types—Wonder, Discernment, Tenacity, Enablement, Galvanization, and Invention—mentors can better support their mentees, enhance team collaboration, and drive overall success. This knowledge empowers mentors to create more effective and fulfilling mentoring experiences. Shout-out to Masha Trenhaile to organize multiple sessions to ensure the learning flexibility and accessibility to all our mentors. #b4U #bayeruniversityprogram #teambayer #mentoring
We had an opportunity for an in-person Working Genius facilitation with the North Carolina State University mentees in the Bayer University Mentoring Program . I was really impressed with the participation and insights from the participants! (Wish I could remember to take photos 😜). Many thanks for the efforts of our facilitator Vivian Tang and the engagement of the mentees Eric Butoto Izabela Moura Duin Anne-Marie Pullen Ike Onwuka Michael Palmer Susmita Gaire NILESH DIGHE Rhonda Sutton, Ph.D. The Table Group #workinggenius #teamBayer #B4U

Bayer University Mentoring Program reposted this
U of Nebraska-Lincoln students had a great visit to the Bayer Gothenburg Learning Center. The future of agricultural research resides with this generation of researcher. Thanks to Robert Brauer and Mark Reiman for hosting the Bayer University Mentoring Program and the UNL partners Keenan Amundsen and @Hoai Vu and Deans Derek McLean, Tiffany Heng-Moss and Associate Dean Tala Awada for sponsoring the program. #bayercropscience #B4U #healthforall #hungerfornone
It was really energizing to spend time at the Gothenburg Water Resource Learning center with students and faculty from #UNL. This included many members of our B4U mentoring program, in which I’m proud to participate. I was struck by quality of the discussion, and by the self evident passion from everyone in the room for how science can improve human flourishing. We discussed science literacy in the general public, the future of classroom learning, improving irrigation efficiency, real world challenges facing farmers, the unrealized potential of the microbiome, amongst many other fascinating topics. And we had a chance to tour the trials across the learning center, seeing some of Bayer’s latest products like #Preceon short corn along with a number of exciting trials focused on #regenerativeag. Huge thanks to Mark Reiman and the Learning Center staff, to Patrick (Pat) Morgan and Aaron Bereuter our B4U UNL program chairs, Keenan Amundsen and Hoai Vu and Mark Stone and our other UNL supporters of B4U and other UNL Bayer collaborations!
