I was delighted to record a conversation with the brilliant Jon Eckert for his #JustSchools podcast when I visited Baylor University in Texas in December. How do you end up watching fireworks at Epcot next to a great school leader and former rugby player like Shaun Brooker? Last week I got to spend time with leaders from around the world, and our time culminated in Epcot. This week, I get to spend time with colleagues from Australia and New Zealand here at Baylor University. What I have learned from them already: 1) Leaders serve. 2) There is joy in creation. 3) Leaders celebrate others. What are you learning about leadership?

Joy is effervescing in schools around the world. On Sunday night, I had dinner with 11 educators from four continents. I met most of them for the first time that day. Yesterday morning in our Baylor Center for School Leadership workshop, leaders from Ghana, Guatemala, India, Canada, the U.S. and many other countries developed their stories of joy through gritty optimism. First rule for storytelling adapted from Matthew Dicks on generating stories: 1) Tell your own stories, but you are not the hero. No one wants to hear you tell someone else's story or hear us brag or humble brag. Where did you find joy today?
