See Who is planning to build What, Where, and When with BCI Planned Developments Finding and tracking planned commercial real estate locations can be difficult and time-consuming. Most news articles lack the sufficient details required to properly locate the exact planned real estate development location. Companies do this research every day, but often the information is gathered on the "market of the moment," and the data is not kept up to date or shared throughout the organization. Planned Developments provides this intel updated daily and mapped spatially for ease of use.

As of September 2024, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported 7.4 million job openings, with 288,000 openings in the construction sector alone. Workforce shortages are taking a toll on the industry, as highlighted by the Associated General Contractors’ (AGC) 2024 Industry Workforce Analysis, sponsored by Arcoro, which revealed that 54% of contractors experienced project delays due to labor shortages. Addressing these workforce challenges is expected to remain a priority as the industry moves into 2025. As economic policies and trends largely influenced by the development and funding of Artificial Intelligence have brought us to a period of surging investment in manufacturing facilities, data centers, nuclear energy plants and other mega-projects, all of which require specialized skills like welding, electrical work, and advanced automation at extensive scales, thereby compounding the challenge of affordable labor supply. For example, the construction of a single large data center can generate 1,700 local construction jobs over 18-24 months—positions that are increasingly difficult to fill. There's no doubt as well that uncertainty regarding the immigration policies and enforcement practices of the incoming Trump administration could hamstring certain projects and labor supply chains because they, like many other markets, rely heavily on an immigrant workforce. These shortages directly affect CRE, causing delayed projects, higher wage costs, and as automation gains traction, a shift in skill demand. What will budge first: American workers or offered labor wages? To mitigate these challenges, the industry is turning to tools like autonomous equipment and scheduling algorithms which improve efficiency and reduce reliance on manual labor. We have also seen recruiting from adjacent sectors and implementing apprenticeships, as well as, collaborating with academic institutions and governments to create pipelines for skilled trades and next-gen workers. Even amid a volatile and ever-shifting landscape, though, Hubexo offers a range of tools to identify the best opportunities and people around to make sure that your much-needed construction work gets done, with high quality and in timely fashion. Will you be at World of Concrete in Las Vegas this January? Join Hubexo at booth #2463 and we will show you how you can use our comprehensive suite of construction data tools to adapt to the current labor shortage and more challenges in the current market.
