Yesterday, the Bennett & Pless team in Nashville partnered with Bohler at ESa Architecture's Gingertown, an annual event where architects, engineers, and contractors craft a holiday village entirely from gingerbread and candy. Hosted by ESa since 2010, Gingertown combines creativity and community spirit. Each candy-coated structure is donated to local healthcare and community organizations to bring joy during the holidays. We’re proud to have been part of this sweet tradition, turning chocolate streets and candy cane lamp posts into festive masterpieces while giving back to the community. #BennettAndPless #APlaceWherePeopleThrive #Gingertown2024 #NashvilleTN

Creating Homes for Heroes! We’re proud to have provided the structural engineering for Liberty Place, Knoxville’s newest permanent supportive housing development dedicated to military veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Liberty Place is now open, providing 48 fully furnished apartments and comprehensive support services for those who have served our nation. The project includes an on-site lounge, seating area, offices, gym, pavilion, and a flagpole plaza—creating a vibrant and supportive community space. Key structural features: Innovative Exterior Design: Cantilevered floor trusses create striking façade massing while meeting zoning guidelines. Enhanced Ceiling Heights: 9ft pre-cut studs and bottom chord bearing floor trusses provide a taller ceiling height, setting a new standard for low-income housing. Structural Continuity: In the east wing, shear walls integrate seamlessly with recessed walls and glazing for both transparency and shading. Bennett & Pless is honored to contribute to initiatives that impact lives and strengthen communities. They are hoping this will set a standard and serve as a model for future projects in other cities and locations. Congratulations to the entire project team on bringing this vision to life! #BennettAndPless #APlaceWherePeopleThrive #VeteransHousing #KnoxvilleTN

💧 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲 🏢 Water—essential for life, yet one of the most destructive forces for buildings. Water intrusion may start as a small, unnoticed issue, but it can escalate into a costly nightmare that silently undermines your building’s structure and performance. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀? When water finds its way into your building envelope, it’s not just a cosmetic issue. Here’s what can happen if water goes unchecked: • Structural Damage 🏗️ — Water weakens walls, foundations, and other structural components, threatening the building’s integrity. • Mold and Mildew Growth 🌱 — Trapped moisture creates a breeding ground for mold, which compromises indoor air quality and can lead to health issues. • Insulation Failure 🧊 — Water-saturated insulation loses its effectiveness, leading to increased heating and cooling costs. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 Water intrusion often happens through tiny, hard-to-see pathways: cracks, seams, improperly sealed joints, and even porous materials. A comprehensive water management strategy—including drainage systems, vapor barriers, and proper sealants—is essential to prevent intrusion and protect your investment. 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄? Just a small, persistent leak can lead to thousands of dollars in repair costs if not addressed early. The true cost of water intrusion isn’t just in the immediate damage—it’s in the long-term, hidden effects that slowly eat away at your building’s value. Whether it’s a new construction or an existing building, we help you take proactive steps to keep your structure safe, dry, and efficient. 💡 Curious about the water defenses in your building envelope?
