  • 💸 Did your carrier invoices come in unexpectedly high this month? ➤ Here are the top five freight invoice errors we find during freight audits, and what you can do to avoid them. #Shipping101 🔶 Duplicate Charges  One of the most common errors found on freight invoices, duplicate charges occur when a shipper bills for the same service or item multiple times on the same invoice or across different invoices. Duplicate charges can occur due to various reasons, including clerical errors, or system glitches. 🔶 Incorrect Rates and Tariffs  These errors occur when the rates applied to shipments do not match the contractual terms agreed upon between the shipper and carrier. Examples include outdated rate tables, incorrect application of discounts or surcharges, or discrepancies between negotiated and billed rates. 🔶 Weight and Dimensional Discrepancies Incorrect measurements can result from data entry errors, misinterpretation of packaging specifications, or intentional misrepresentation. Examples include incorrectly reported weights, dimensions, or class codes, which can affect the calculation of freight charges. 🔶 Accessorial Charges These are additional charges applied to shipments for services beyond standard transportation, such as fuel surcharges, detention fees, or liftgate services.  While these charges are legitimate, they are often subject to error and misinterpretation. 🔶 Billing Errors Due to Contractual Misinterpretation Despite having negotiated contracts in place, discrepancies can arise when the terms and conditions outlined in the contract are not accurately reflected in the billing process. This can be due to misunderstandings, ambiguous language, or changes in business needs over time. Common examples include misapplication of discounts, failure to reflect agreed billing cycles or payment terms, and misalignment of service levels with contractual obligations. ✅ What can you do to prevent these errors? ➤ Implement automated invoice validation systems. ➤ Match invoices to shipping manifests and regularly reconcile invoices to contract terms. ➤ Perform periodic audits to detect and prevent duplicate charges. Of course, you can also get yourself an automated freight auditing solution like Betachon Freight Auditing and let our AI-powered software do the work for you 😉. #ecommerce #transportation #logistics #supplychain #shipping #fedex #lastmile #parcel

  • Holiday season is almost here!#PeakSeasonTips 6️⃣ Redundancy is the key to success Peak season is unpredictable, and relying on a single carrier can be risky. With Thanksgiving late this year, the compressed shipping window will create bottlenecks. Even the most experienced carriers are vulnerable to capacity issues, as seen with recent underperformance by USPS. The solution? Diversify your carrier base. A mix of national and regional carriers ensures flexibility and mitigates risk. Prepare a contingency plan—and then have a backup for that plan.

  • How are you getting ready for the holiday season this year? #PeakSeasonTips 5️⃣ Keep Customers in the Loop Strong customer communication is critical to peak season success. Setting clear expectations and providing proactive updates builds trust and reduces anxiety. Real-time tracking is now a must. Although almost all retailers understand the importance of real-time updates, 27% still don’t offer them—a gap that could cost them customers.
