Cool to get this kind of feedback on Elevate, Bimotal's ebike motor system: During a recent trip to Utah with my wife, I experienced firsthand how Elevate can be a game-changer for mountain bikers. Our journey was a blend of work and leisure, allowing us to explore parks and trails across the state. While staying at an RV campsite in St. George, I planned an ambitious ride before my first meeting of the day. With only two hours available, I was confident that Elevate’s power would help me tackle the challenging terrain. The ride began with a few miles on the road to reach the trailhead. I then rode up Barrel Roll and moved on to Sidewinder - a trail that lived up to its name with technical sections, rocky climbs, and steep switchbacks. An hour into the ride, I realized I needed to turn back to make my meeting on time. The return journey was slower due to the terrain’s difficulty, but exhilarating nonetheless. However, as I reached the top of Barrel Roll, disaster struck - my chain snapped. Despite having a chain breaker and spare links, the break was too severe to fix on the trail. With only 30 minutes until my call and the prospect of a difficult conversation if I had to ask my wife for a rescue, I was in a tough spot. That’s when Elevate’s true value shone through. I suddenly remembered that Elevate doesn’t require a chain to function. In a moment of inspiration, I stowed the broken chain in my backpack, engaged the throttle, and began my descent. Riding without a chain felt surreal, but Elevate performed flawlessly. Thanks to its innovative design, I made it back to our campsite with minutes to spare, allowing me to join my call on time and without stress. Elevate didn’t just enhance my ride that day - it rescued it. This experience underscored the product’s versatility and reliability, proving its worth beyond just providing extra power on difficult climbs. Elevate transformed what could have been a frustrating breakdown into a memorable adventure, showcasing its ability to adapt to unexpected challenges and keep riders on track, both on and off the trail. Thanks Bimotal!

An in-depth review of Bimotal's first powertrain to market, Elevate. https://lnkd.in/gz4-V24Z While the technology has impressed many, there are concerns about the $2K cost, despite it potentially saving the purchase of an $8K e-bike. Comment below with your recommendations to address the cost concerns! (P.S. we will have a lower cost commuter-oriented version in the future once we are at scale)

Monterey County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (a division of California Search and Rescue) has been looking for a solution to propel their litter, which often requires a team of six to push up steep slopes. We worked together at Life Time Sea Otter Classic to come up with a solution: Elevate with software limits set to 5mph was the tool for the job! #elevateyourride #bimotal #elevate #micromobility #mobilityofthefuture #innovation

NVH. Noise, vibration, harshness. Every powertrain engineer's worst enemy. So how do you make an electric motor and gearbox quiet? Bimotal is by no means an expert in this domain, but we're getting better at it day by day. Doing a spectral analysis and understanding what order key frequencies occur at helps us root cause. For example, if the motor is spinning at 3600 rpm (60 Hz), and we have harsh noise at 600 Hz, that's a 10th order problem. If it happens that our first stage gear has 10 teeth on it, you can hypothesize that that gear mesh has something to do with the noise. We've learned a ton in the last year and are continuing to build up this domain expertise. Comment if you know good tactics we should get on our radar as we work to make silent, light, and punchy e-drives!
