A woman in Delhi lost ₹97,000 in a scam through her Swiggy account. Late at night, she received a call that appeared to be from a Swiggy helpline number, warning her that someone was trying to log into her account. In a panic, she immediately shared her private details, such as her username and password, to secure the account. The hacker then asked her to share an OTP so they could log into her Swiggy account. Now, this woman already had ₹1 lakh in her LazyPay wallet, which was linked to her Swiggy account. Before she realized it, the hacker placed hundreds of fake orders through her Swiggy account and stole ₹97,000 from her LazyPay wallet. To avoid falling victim to such scams, never link third-party UPI wallets to food or grocery delivery apps. In many cases, hackers can access wallet funds without needing an OTP.
