Saturday morning, crews placed concrete that will form the foundation of our Superstructure. The new facility sits above the 12-story underground pumping shaft that will bring combined sewer flow from the Waterfront Tunnel to the surface to be treated at AlexRenew.

At each BuiltWorlds event, we make a concerted effort to provide a platform for AEC industry innovators to show off their innovations. We call that platform our Demo Day Competitions. Yesterday, as part of our ongoing Infrastructure Conference, we hosted our sixth Demo Day Competition of the year, spotlighting 10 leading-edge startups: Krane, Crewscope, ConstructivIQ, binni, QuikCal LLC, PVFARM, LexlabsAI, sitenotes, Aren, and Eyrus. Each took the stage for five minutes, walking our panel of expert judges—featuring representatives from Brick & Mortar Ventures, Building Ventures, Zacua Ventures, Nemetschek Group,Turf Advisory, and Leonard by VINCI—through the details of the problem they're solving, the solution they're innovating, and the business model they've built to support it. While we saw 10 impressive presentations, it was ultimately Ali Khaloo, PhD, CEO of Aren, who won the judges over with his compelling pitch of the company's end-to-end, AI-based platform that promises a cost-effective, automated, and quantitative approach to de-risk the asset management practice.
