My 5-year-old granddaughter Maya has absolute faith that I can "fix" her broken unicorn. She hands it to me with those big, trusting eyes, confident I can make everything better. I wish I could. Just as I wish I could singlehandedly "fix" the heartbreaking issue of Black women dying in childbirth or experiencing devastating trauma during what should be one of the most joyful times in their lives.
