Congratulations to all involved, proud to be a part of this innovative project!
Quincy has issued the first blockchain-based bond in the US. Excited to announce a project a year in the making. Today marks the first day that a US entity has sold a blockchain-based bond. The bond was sold on J.P. Morgan's Onyx platform. This is the first step in the march to broad market democratization of bonds! I want to take a moment to thank those involved in this event. First, none this could have been accomplished without the leadership of Mayor Koch, whose trust in the team and seeing the long-term benefit this technology can have to the citizens of Quincy opened the door to this great project. I also want to take a moment to acknowledge City Council President Ian Cain who helped jump start this process on a sunny day in May of last year when he sat down to talk to me about a blockchain-bond that was just being finalized in Germany, and asked if this is something doable here. I'm happy to finally be able to answer that question with a firm "yes!" Thank you to Rick Coscia who led the team coordinating this major project, and all the City people who played a role in this project: Treasurer Molly Smith, Financial Operations Manager Michael Rowland, Business Analyst Reese Mullen, David Ryan, and Jackson Zhao. Thank you to all our partners Hilltop Securities Inc., Locke Lord LLP, Blockwise Advisors, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and Dorminson . Thank you to the entire J.P. Morgan team, Isaac Sine led a fantastic group of individuals. As always, a thank you to our partners in independent auditing, James Powers & Todd Jurczyk of Marcum LLP.
